Rangers ticket limits

Anyone know offhand what's the maximum amount of tickets you can get from ticketmaster when Saturday comes? Is it 6 or 8? I have a group of 7 =(

Which games are you looking to get those tickets to?

It's extremely hard to find large groups of seats together... I'd say anything over 3 seats can be difficult and it will be near impossible to find a pair of seats in the 400's for opening night... I haven't been able to the last 2 seasons and that's after logging onto ticket master the second tickets go on sale...

TM limits you to 4 tickets. And there won't be 4 tix available together anyway at MSG.

I need 8 (or two sets of 4 now!) for a weekend game. Not opening day, nothing special. Does MSG do groups or something? Anyone know what the minimum group limit is?

I'm pretty sure tickets went on sale today. At least that's what the email the Rangers sent me said.

"Pre-Sale begins Wednesday, September 9 at 10:00am via newyorkrangers.com or Ticketmaster charge by phone at 1 (800) 745-3000.

I'd have to assume there will be mostly more of the same on Saturday. Almost all of the available season tickets were in the 200s or better. I'm guessing it's slim pickins in the 300s/400s come the regular sale.

it suxs that ticketmaster has that limit. Maybe you can make multiple accounts to get around it?

Good in theory, but:
1) you wouldnt get 4 and 4 together
and
2) by the time you sign in with the other name the tickets will most likely all be gone

I think rangers ticket exchange is better for larger groups you see the exact seat numbers, not just rows like stubhub hub. So, you can buy tickets from multiple sources, and know they are all together. Maybe 2 rows back to back

Rangers Ticket Limits

I agree that the Rangers Ticketexchange is the best for large groups. You know exactly what seats you are buying . Stubhub can be a little since they can swap similiar seats. It will be interesting tomorrow to see what is available(I bet not much):

Questions

1) If the Rangers are sold out for all their games...then why is it during the regular season you usually see a decent amount of empty seats?
In Philly you rarely see empty seats...same with PIT?

2) If the Rangers are sold out for all their games....why is it there seems to be a good amount of Isles/Devils/Flyers/Habs/Leafs/Wings/Sabres fans (I don't think Boston or Washington bring much)?
-Normally when a team has such high ticket demand you CAN NOT get seats since they are so limited...the tickets just aren't there for local fans let alone out of towners.

3) Why is it should there be limits that in the past the Habs have been able to get a group of fans in?

Why is OUR sellouts have more empty seats and more road fans than say a sellout in Philly/PIT/Montreal?
Is it just my imagination...or is MSG really NOT sold out but a myth?

Just taking a stab at it Troy...

1) The lower levels sometimes look empty because those seats are often held by corporations, and unless it's a huge game, Joe Wall Street can't be bothered to show up. And sellout = all tickets sold. Say you buy a ticket but then get sick...well, the ticket is sold but your seat is empty.

2) Sellouts are often achieved on game day or thereabouts. If you're a Penguins fan and a couple days before the game decide you wanna go to MSG, you can find a ticket. Also, as people have been discussing, there are a lot of places that resell tickets. Those tickets are technically sold for the purposes of attendance figures, even if no one actually buys from the original ticket holder. Like when I wanna see the Rangers in DC, I just buy tickets from a season ticket holder here in Washington.

3) I have no idea and it's late so I'm not even gonna guess.

Rangers (and probably all teams) hold x amount of tickets for group sales. I get a group every year, last 2 happened to be against Habs, and in same sections there were groups of Habs fans. They don't ask "who are you rooting for?" when you buy. And once you have a group, every year you are on list to buy again. So, if they have 250 group tickets for every game but they only sell all 250 for 30 games and sell none for a game or 2, there will be empty seats. I don't know league rules, but they are probably allowed to announce "Sell out" no matter how many group tickets or other hold back tickets are left. So you might see a block of 50 seats empty and say "no way is it a sell out" but that is not neccasarily true.

I ended up calling the Garden Thursday after ryan41 suggestion trying group sales. Group seats are segregated from the general seats. I only needed 9 people for a group so I recruited some friends. What happens then is you make your request for a game and they said they would call me early this week and let me know if they are able to fulfill my request. I assume it's first come first serve, but I have no idea at all. I'll keep you guys posted! Thanks for everyone's help btw.

Pretty sure there is a list of prior groups who get first crack, then first come first served. Last year they didn't take any new groups, years past they gave jerseys to group leaders, all supply and demand.
