Ashton gets a "big boy" number already...

Maybe he gets his 9 games and then some.

Couple of notes from pre camp skate this morning. Veilleux took Prospals place on a line with vinny and Marty and looked really good. To look at him, his skating style reminds me a lot of Brad Richards.

Still no sign of tanguay. He has not been around all week.

Talked briefly with stamkos, it amazes me how much he has matured in a year. He talked about how it is the teams goal to make the postseason this year.

Veteran center Brett McLean arrived in Brandon this morning to take part in the precamp scrimmages and workouts. McLean has a locker stall inside the main locker room and will take part in Lightning training camp on a tryout basis. He said that he has been given no guarantees on anything other than an opportunity to make the team and earn a contract.
yep same guy. he's on a tryout.

Stamkos has a little bit of arrogance to him this year. Its about time. Its one thing to be humble, but at some point you have to have it in you to say "**** you, I belong here".

Arrogance is really the perfect way to describe it, last year he was this quiet kid that you could barely hear what he was saying, this year he has a whole new confidence about him. Its really good to see.

15 goals 35 points in 06-07 and 14 goals and 37 points in 07-08

Scored more than any bottom 6 player on our team last year im betting on an off year where he scored just 19 points. (cant be bothered to look that up now, but I feel pretty safe making that bet)

I think this list answers a question we'd forgotten:

Kurtis Foster #6
Stephane Vellieux #19
David Hale #21
Drew Miller #16
Todd Fedoruk #17

Brett McLean (#53) seems to be only UFA attending.

For those of you coming to Brandon, when you turn off of Faulkenburg Rd onto Elizabeth place to pull into the parking lot, about half way down, there is a dip in the road that if you don't see coming and hit at full speed, will feel for many days. Just fair warning.

It's not a "dip" it's a crater! It's been there for about 4-5 years that I know.

You hit that thing with any speed, you'll be taking your car in to get the front end realigned....

Just curious if anyone could update me on the following guys over the course of training camp....Panik was awesome in Windosr while he was here so far. He scored that beauty highlight reel goal and was just dominant.

Richard Panik
Victor Hedman
Drew Miller

Thanks

Its where for some reason they decided to run irrigation through the middle of the road.

It was even worse a few weeks ago when a giant pothole about a foot deep opened up from all the rain. They put a cone there and did fix that part but the big irrigation dip is obviously still there. I think its been there for as long as the rink has(road has).

Hutchings looks to be the most impressive during the rookie camp, with 3 goals, 1 of which was on a breakaway, 1 assist and 1 additional goal that was called back "contraversy related to whether the puck went in off his skate" His team was playing against Hedman's team. I hope they keep him for 9 games or more!

If anyone is going to see the action, I would love to hear comments about Tukonen. Really interesting to see if he can make it or not. Of course, I kinda hope he doesn't because Lukko needs him back, but it would also be nice to see him reach his potential and grab an NHL spot. So I am a bit torn about it, but anxious to hear how he is doing.
