Good for him, the fact still remains that he took a chance and bought this team when no one else would.

I don't care how much money he's leaving with, he's earned every damn penny of it IMO.

3rd question in, Réhan Tambley ask the very important question about the lack of frenchies on the club. Goeff Molson politely shuts im up in less than 30 seconds.

It was not Réjean. I think it was Guy D'Aoust from Radio-Canada.

I haven't seen any clips of this press conference yet, but I'm definitely not surprised. Gillett has been a fantastic owner and I'm sad to see him go.

the Molson 19% they already own will be now be transfered to a group including Michael Andluaer the Hamilton Bulldogs owner

-------------------------------------
The pending sale of the Montreal Canadiens will soon put the storied hockey franchise in the hands of a partnership group led by members of the Molson family, after eight years of majority ownership by U.S. businessman George Gillett.

The partnership group that will be acquiring the team includes Bell, the Woodbridge Company Ltd., the QFL Solidarity Fund, as well as businessmen Luc Bertrand and Michael Andluaer, who owns the hockey team's farm club.

The structure of the new ownership was announced Thursday at the hockey team's annual charity golf tournament.

The Guy bought this club when nobody wanted it, made it popular again. And yes, he deserves the deep pockets.

Gillett deserves props for the class and dignity he restored into the Habs franchise. He bought low, brought in a good management team, built up the franchise with proper leadership then sold high. How can you not respect and admire that?

Good to hear.

As for Mr. Gillett, he was a fantastic owner and seems like a great person. I'm sad to see him go.

George Gillet was a solid owner, good to see his bussiness giving back much more than what he gave. That's great ownership right there.

I don't quite understand between the love people have for Gilllett and the hate for Boivin

one is said to be a great person the other is said to have done nothing for this team except bring money in. I don't know if I get things wrong, but typically the owner sets his priorities and the president makes sure the goals are achieved.
