Picking over the Phx Coyotes.Who would we end up with?

it might not happen BUT the judge said something today which now raises the possibility of "liquidation".

So if they disperse the Yotes who do you think will end up with from the Coyotes roster and farm team ?

Quote:

An Arizona bankruptcy court judge has threatened to reject both of the remaining bids for the Phoenix Coyotes

By rejecting both bids, Baum would be raising the possibility of liquidation.

"In a liquidation under chapter 7, the main assets of the Coyotes would have little or no value (what is the team name/logo worth if there is no right to play?)

We'd have the 17th pick if it's based of 2008-09 standings.

Don't hold your breath on anything extremely valuable being available at that stage.

Assuming prospects are available, here's a mock:

1. Doan
2. Turris
3. Mueller
4. Boedker
5. OEL
6. Jovanovski
7. Michalek
8. Bryzgalov
9. Lombardi
10. Hanzal
11. Tikhonov
12. Yandle
13. Aucoin
14. Prucha
15. Upshall
16. Goncharov

Leaving Vrbata, Korpikoski, Pyatt, Sauer, Fiddler, Lepisto, MacLean, Summers, Porter, Ross, etc available.

Sami Lepisto, only because I have him in my hockey pool.

If it truly happens then Scottie Upshall can't catch a break for ****

I'd go for Kevin Porter

If this happened would the salary cap be adjusted upwards? You'd have to think that'd benefit teams right near the cap + make it impossible for some teams to select the higher paid players.

how does a team fit in salary ?

say for instance it was our pick and Shane Doan was available , how would you be able too pick him without dumping salary?

You might be surprised what is left at 17

some are now batting around the idea of a 24 -26 team NHL.

If thats the case this sounds like there could be some more of this yardsale stuff happening in the coming years

Maybe a rule is implemented that the player who is picked does not count against the cap.

This is something I could see the NHLPA and the NHL agreeing upon. As it would allow for more players to keep their jobs.

I doubt they trade them until they command big salaries.

should be any team placing a claim has to remain under the cap or trade away existing salary .

these last place teams already get top ten picks every year.

why not throw all team names in a bingo machine and determine draw order .

then throw all players names in a bingo machine then draw.

If the player you get is someone you want then fit him under the cap other wise send him back in the draw for another pick .

do this till all players "wanted" have a home .

That makes a lot of sense DM. That would create a lot of excitement for fans of all teams. As they anticipate where there team will finish in the draw.

you make room for Doan. I could see the Islanders grabbing Turris over a guy like Doan, but would anybody with cap room let him go?

not many can fit him in at the moment .

and lets say we draw Doan , how do we shed 5 million easily? we need a dance partner

I guess that could be the interesting part of it all. the teams trading the day of the dispersal draft to make room and giving up 2010-11 draft picks to other teams to help them out etc.

I would try to re-unite the Pacioretty-Porter-Kolarik line from University of Michigan.

I'm assuming for the duration of their contracts they would either not be taken into account of the cap, or they'd need to increase cap space of all teams (which I doubt)

The 2nd option I feel is dumb because what happens to the guys making 5-6 million this late in the game who need to be signed but teams are already filled on cap space? Personally I think this option of liquidating will cause many problems and the only fair way to do it imo is to randomize the draft order.

In a liquidation scenario the contract the players have would not have to go with the players. The team that picks up any of the players could negotiate new terms.

He wasn't mentioned in the projections, so I'd take Larrsson. Drafted in the top 5 this year. I love this kid. Next would be Lombardi if he were to b available
