I mean't the tragedy itself not the people lost ,i did say R.I.P for a reason. Lets not turn this into a pointless arguement.

It was a scary day. Living in DC and with relatives in NYC, I didn't know what the **** I should do. I hope we never have to encounter anything like that again.

There is an online museum dedicated to chronicling the tragedy:

http://makehistory.national911memorial.org/

It apparently has some really, really incredible movies, galleries and articles. I'm not ready to look at that stuff yet, but I'm sure it's an interesting view for those that can handle it.

"A great people has been moved to defend a great nation. Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve."

- George W. Bush September 11, 2001

RIP Kevin

RIP FF Danny Libretti
and Pat Lyons

It may be 8 years ago, but the pain and heartache is as strong as it was on 9/11/01.

Me either. I never went down to the site when I was living in NYC, I just couldn't do it.

I know for some who's lives were directly affected they HAD to go and it gave them some peace...but I could never bring myself to go.

I can't watch the docs or the movies about it either.

Two things I remember vividly:

Walking home from work that day thru central park to get to the Upper East Side (b/c we thought it would be safer in case there were more attacks). The look on everyones faces...

Waking up on Wed morning when the wind shifted and sore throat from the horrid smoke...

I'll never forget that day. I never truly understood what the generation before me was talking about when they recalled the JFK assassination until then. I remember every detail like it just happened. For me, this board was SO important on 9/11/01. So many people had so much raw emotion but really had nowhere to go with it. I remember people just pouring out on here. I really wish the format never changed, I would like to revisit that thread, so that I never forget, and I never let that go away. RIP to all those who were victims, and to all those who fought to make sure the rest of are not.

sad sad day for New York.. and it is sad that the new WTC is no where near completion. The scar of that day is still visible and finishing the new site will go along way to healing all wounds.
