AZEVEDO versus KOZUN--Who is more likely to make it?

From what I've been reading (scrimmages, etc), it already looks like Kozun has the wheels to make up for his small size.
Kozun may project as a Cliff Ronning-type, or, if we are really lucky, a Butch-Goring type.

From the scrimmage reports I read, it sounds like Azevedo is struggling
more than Kozun, because he hasn't the speed to evade checks & get to open ice.

Azevedo is reportedly gritty & determined, but so is Kozun, and nowadays grit needs some added speed to
complete a smaller-man's game, at least in the NHL.

Personally, I'd love to see them BOTH make it, but most likely only 1 (or maybe neither?) will make it to the NHL.

Both will be stars in the AHL, almost for sure, I would think.
(I expect Azevedo's AHL pt total to go up a lot this season.)

But from early reports, Kozun sounds like one of those tiny guys that sometimes does manage to make it, via heart AND speed working together.

Maybe Azevedo compares to a slow-skating Cliff Ronning, or a slow-skating Butch Goring---Would either of
those guys have made it, if they had been slow-skaters?

Personally, I have my doubts.

Kozun's speed gives him a huge advantage over Azevedo, IMO.

I believe the edge goes to the guy with wheels and that isnt Azevedo. Kozun looked not just fast but speedy and with great skating, something no one will argue that Azevedo possesses. I project Azevedo as a career AHL'er, while Kozun has a shot at making it to the top level.

Well the way I see it if your undersized you have to have speed or you don't make the NHL.

As of right now, Azevedo, he is the only one of the two that has actually proven something thus far (that he can excel on the pro level).

Kozun is faster but Azevedo is tougher. Both AHL players probably.

This.

I'd have to give the edge to Azevedo for being tougher (still not too hard) to knock over than Kozun. Kozun is a whisp of cinammon, Azavedo is the same, but someone dipped his in cement. He also takes the body, which I think makes him more likely to ever earn and NHL spot. Although, that same thing could make it harder for him since there isn't much of a point to him taking the body in the NHL. But he is built like a tree for his size. Kozun is definately faster, but what Azevedo lacks in speed and skating I think he makes up for in being shifty. Kozun is shifty too, but a good mean stare from a defenseman might knock him down.

Neither are NHL ready. Kozun is so much further from being ready than Azevedo. Kings fans need to stop overhyping our prospects until they PRODUCE in the NHL.

Speaking of over-hyping, it would be great if any one of them turn out to be like Theo..

I saw that right after I clicked away from posting that. Bummer. Not like there was even a shadow of a chance of the Kings inviting him, but still... Theo rules. I will just love to see him in the NHL again, period.

I don't see that anywhere. The latest I have heard is today he told reporters:

Quote:
Fleury says he has interest, but out of respect to the teams involved he doesn't want to name the cities without their consent.

and

The Flames forums has nothing of him being invited to Flames camp.

Odd that no one else is reporting it. Not that I thought for a second that he wasn't going to be at Calgary's camp, just that it hadn't been publicly finalized yet, but I would think it would be a safe assumption, so if I owned a publication I would just state it blindly

I haven't seen Kozun play. Is he essentially the second coming of Brady Murray?

And is Azevedo the third coming of Pavel Rosa?

Barring any injuries, Azevedo will get a call up this season. Mark my words.

Pretty much. Don't let the Kingy Kingsters tell you that Kozun is the next Martin St. Louis.
