I've got to think GMs around the league, particularly ones that have a history with McPhee, know the general details of the situation and what the plan is. Not much of a reason to make this a state secret.

They've been close before, but not this close. Come on GMGM, close the deal.

Nylander was delusional he wanted to play in the NHL I am sure GMGM tried to explain to him no deal could be worked out for him to play in the NHL... then finally Nylander agreed to be waived so he could see for himself no one in the NHL wanted him... when he finally understood that he was ready to move on. The hold up was Nylander refused to do anything hoping the Caps would take him back or be able to work a deal for him. GMGM patiently waited until Nylander saw for himself no one in the NHL not even Carolina or the Leafs wanted him... I don't think the Caps did anything wrong or weren't classy.

nylander can play in the nhl just not for a 4.8 mil cap hit.

whatever millions the caps pay for him to go to the khl are an investment on a deep run in the playoffs (playoff gates) plus a shot at a stanley cup which will mean even more money for the team (bandwagoners purchasing team stuff etc)

I can't help but think this quote from Ted is somehow related to the timing of all this:

Quote:
We have arrived. I think we have a chance to be the top paid admissions team in the NHL for US-based clubs. Thank you Caps fans. You rock! Your support is most appreciated. Go Caps!

McKenzie back-tracking a little more for the time being:

And since this Russian thing looked like it was going to get done a time or two before and didn't, we better wait for official confirmation.

A team official said it looks like there will be an update on Michael Nylander's status today.

Can't say it any better.

Also, I'd hate to see Forsburg come here (If he does, I hope he makes me eat my words) I think the team will do much better with the solid D Piece that we are missing.

I don't think we'll have a problem getting to 1000 if this goes on another day...

or more.
