Crosby Trade Advice

the offer has been changed now to this:

Travis Zajac,
Cody Hodgson,
Jamie McBain
2010 1st
2011 1st
2011 1st
Miller
Lalime

for

Crosby
Kipper

I am tight up against the cap and this would free up 9 million or so. My team is a contender so im not sure if i should take it, but 1st round picks are pretty valuable in my league and with 9 million in cap space i could possibly make another trade to add a big name. What do you think
I am in a 30 team keeper league.

As in most cases where a ton of names are involved it does not make for a good deal when you're losing the best player in the deal.

First off, would you be forced to drop players after doing this trade? Secondly, try to keep Kennedy (he could be a 45-50 pt, 120 PIM guy soon) and remove Lalime and his 2010 2nd. If you could pull that off, I'd have to do it unless you'd be dropping some real talent.

ok, i should have mentioned that im pretty thin for depth. having lalime is nice because if miller would get hurt then i have buffalos backup.

I wouldn't do this trade. In a 30 team league it's very important to have depth players being offered in this deal; however since you're dealing more than Crosby I wouldn't do it. Kipper and Miller shouldn't be worlds apart in the goaltending department.

This is a terrible trade offer, junk, a couple players with potential and losing a top 3 player in the league, downgrading in goal and taking on lots of extras.

Zajac and Kennedy are almost equal, you might win slightly. You win a bit by getting Miller for Kipper, age primarily. You're looking at Dubinsky, Elias, Karlsson, Lalime, a 2010 1st and 2nd for Crosby. I don't quite think that's enough. See if you can keep Kennedy. If so, then take it.

Any time you are replacing the production of two rosters spots with a ton of roster spots you are losing a deal. If you are contending I would absolutely not make this trade, these guys will still be sought-after if and when you are in real cap trouble. You don't trade franchise centers and goalies to make cap space, you make cap space to keep franchise centers and goalies.
