GDT: Ottawa vs. Toronto, April 3rd

VS.

Game Preview: http://www.ottawasenators.com/stats/...iew/pv0403.aro

Still no goalie announced yet, but it's pretty safe to assume that Prozak will be in nets tonight

Varada, White and Spetzky are game time decisions.

We're on top of the Northeastern division right now, #2 in the East. This game is CRUCIAL for us so that we can hopefully keep that position. Boston needs to drop one of the games in it's home and home with Jersey for us to wrap it up. If we win and Boston loses tomorrow or tonight...we've got the division!

Lines are up in the air right now depending on our 3 game time decisions. My only hope is that Van Allen doesn't play tonight.

From Quantas:

Ottawa: 43-22-10-6 (102 pts)
Toronto: 44-24-10-3 (101 pts)

Storyline (NHL.com, TSN.ca):

The Northeast Division title is up for grabs, literally.

A lot is at stake here. The top four seeds in each conference receive home-ice advantage in at least the first round of the playoffs. However, there is no guarantee the runner-up in the Northeast will be the fourth seed because the Atlantic Division's Devils and Philadelphia Flyers have 98 and 100 points, respectively.

The Senators are unbeaten in five (4-0-1), including a 3-1 win in Philadelphia on Friday. If Ottawa and Boston finish tied for the top spot, the Senators will win the division on the first tiebreaker, more victories.
The Maple Leafs did their part to set up this weekend's drama by beating Buffalo 2-0 on Friday.

Ed Belfour, who will turn 39 later this month, stopped 17 shots for the 74th shutout of his career as the Maple Leafs, 6-2-1 in their last nine games, set a franchise record for points in a season.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sens are coming off a grueling physical matchup against the Flyers. Leafs had a somewhat easier time in Buffalo. No predictions.

Insane Ramblings:

1. Can Bondra score 4 goals to become our 4th 30-goal man?
2. Can Phillips get his 1st career hatrick and end up with 10 for the season?
3. Can Redden get his 1st carrer hatrick and end up with 20 for the season?
4. Will Volchenkov hit a Leaf player so hard there'll only be a blue mist left in the air?
5. Will Alfie get booed in his own rink...I already know the answer to this one (stupid Leaf fans, hope they have car trouble on the way to the rink)
6. Can we hope that Belfour, during a crucial part of the game, will yell out "Help! I've fallen and I can't get up!!!"

The power of the banana's is with us...

Is there a chance that Lalime could start?

I have no problem with Prusek, but I'm just worried that those 41 shots, from last night, tired him out.

This is such an interesting game on so many levels. You have the Senators, who have built their club with Sam Pollock-like patience and care up against the Leafs who have mortgaged themselves to the rafters in hopes of winning the whole thing.

The Sens continue to build towards their championship inside their well crafted window of opportunity, and the Leafs situation can best be summed up in a Springsteen song (something like Born To Run or Jungleland).

My money (tonight and long term) is on the Senators. Its much wiser to build than bail.

I'm pretty sure Prusek is getting the nod...and Tellqvist will likely play as Eddy is too old to be doing back-to-back games these days.

I wouldn't be surprised if Emery starts tonight. After last night, Prusek's back probably couldn't handle another night.

Tellqvist starting I can see. Belfour has been to the playoffs enough times that he doesn't need the tuneup.

I'd like to see Emery in a game like this.

I believe the message would be something like "You are our future. This is what it is going to be like to face teams like the Leafs/Flyers etc., have a great time tonight, have fun and we'll see you next year."

Oh, and be sure to do the new pregame warmup. Banana Man will demonstrate...

Why should they risk playing Belfour on back-to-back nights for an at best 1/3 chance of getting first in the division. The game is important in that most teams would rather play Montreal in the first round than Ottawa/Boston/Toronto/NJ/Philly.

I'm hoping that NJ beats boston this afternoon, so that Ottawa can hopefully clinch 2nd tonight.

This game is too important for us to have to rely on a rookie playing one of his first games, but I am afraid of Prusek throwing out his back.

Tellquist, ey? Okay I see that winning this game just got a bit easier.

I hope that Emery gets the start.

Never 4get this one:
