The feed is taken directly from the jumbotron at the arena.
Ah, that makes sense. I should have guessed as much. I just thought they were trying to copy the experience for viewers at home, but it just didn't occur to me that they were taking a direct feed from it. I can't speak for the tech involved, but it doesn't seem that much harder just to take the feed from the raw camera footage, leaving the link to the guy hitting keys on the computer out of it. Who, by the way, should be fired.
Slightly OT: Last night night I went to The Texas Stars (Dallas) Vs Milwaukee Admirals (Nashville) AHL game just outside of Austin. I had a great time although the game wasn't great.
Ben Guite was playing for Milwaukee along with Cal O'Rielly (Ryan's brother if im not mistaken). Ben's defensive play stood out, but he is pretty slow. Didnt really notice Cal except for his name.
Again pretty sloppy game I was excited to see Fabian Brurnnstorm playing for Texas. He was one of the few players that looked like they could play in the NHL.

anyone else keeping a glancing eye over the Monsters? starting to feel pretty bad for the fans..my god what a bad team. 1 win in 11 games, something lik 4 goals scored in the last 5 games including consecutive home shutout losses on a back-to-back (mind you against a good Bulldog unit)
On paper to begin with it looked like the strongest squad the Monsters had iced in their 3 years but right now its like watching boys against men..

Hey, no worries. Just 1 1/2 more seasons like that, and then the Avs will have their next NHL coach.

They had more talent maybe but we keep yanking everything of value off the team including the coaching staff. Now they get new systems, new personnel and still less than a great roster. I feel bad for their fans.
Nice goal by Yip today as he powers in off the left side and puts one home. I doubt he will show much offense overall but the kid hustles and I hope he gets at least a chance to show it at the NHL level. Hensick looked good with a nice setup of Haydar and then a beautiful play to Stoa for the 5th goal. Stoa did what he does best and headed down the middle with speed. Hensick set him at the last possible second and Stoa made good on it. That is a Stoa goal all the way. I hope these two can develop chemistry down there.
So far the concerted efforts this offseason to improve the Monsters are not paying off. Very disappointed that this team is not better defensively, at least from what I'm reading.
Cure for the Monsters offense is to play Grand Rapids. A ton. A six goal night for a team that had gone over 156+ min of ice time. They have something like 15 goals in 3 games against them this season.
Hensick and Stoa scored in a 3-2 loss tonight. Sauer took over for Cann to start the second period (2-0 game at that point). Chelios scored. FTMFL.
I wasn't watching closely but Stoa didn't look too bad out there...had a nice deflection goal and great chance in the closing minutes. Oh, and Preissing hit the post at one point during the game, but why is that not surprising.
Whoa...offensive EXPLOSION against Chris Chelios and the Chicago Wolves. Darren Haydar with the hat trick!
Chelios was scratched on Sunday.
David Quinn was quoted as saying that Saturday's debacle was partly due to some vets "pouting" about the Stoa and Peltier call ups on Saturday morning.
Hah...didn't notice this but look at the +/- ratings of these guys.
Willsie -15 in 24 games
Stoa -10 in 25 games
Mercier -7 in 24 games
Add to that CC alum Marty Sertich with a -10 rating in 27 games. I realize those guys are probably seeing a lot more ice time than some of the others with better ratings, but c'mon guys, play some D!
This is troubling. I am not sure who these players are but if one is Haydar then send him packing. It should be clear at this point that guys with NHL potential will get some playing time. You don't get the call up just because you are competitive at the AHL level. To top that, anyone looking at Stoa and thinking it was wrong to give him a taste needs to check their head. As a rookie he has the 3rd most goals on a team that is really struggling. The Avs just lost two scoring wingers. What is not to understand here? If the anger was over Mercier it is a little more understandable but still managements decision. Don't sulk, prove to them that you can fill the role.

I completely disagree with your Haydar comment. If I was him and had been playing my ass off all year, like it looks like he has, I would be pissed about not getting a call up. Stoa and Mercier did not need to come up and play a couple of games and then get sent back down there was no point of that.
When you are a scorer like Haydar and you've proven that you can get it done at the AHL, you at minimum deserve a shot when a top 6 player like Hejduk goes down. Stoa who apparently was having trouble adjusting to the pro game (not saying he is bad or that giving him a shot was a bad thing), he just didn't deserve that shot over Haydar. It was nice the Avs gave Stoa that shot, but I can fully understand why someone like Haydar would be upset about that.
Plus I have no idea why you're saying Haydar doesn't have NHL potential. Honestly he's never really been given a good opportunity to play in the NHL. You have to have an opportunity before you can say he doesn't have NHL caliber skills. Playing a grand total of 22 games on bad teams doesn't constitute a realistic shot.
I'm actually pissed about how the Avs have dealt with Haydar, I was actually pretty excited to see we had signed him in the offseason. I thought it would be nice to have a good player to call up when inevitably one of our good players got hurt. But this musical chairs go round with calling up random players for short times is retarded.
The Avs need to do a few things:
-Waive Koci and replace him with Mercier then at least Mercier gets time in a roll he will probably play in the future.
-Then figure out where you are with Hejduk is he ok or is he injured. If he is injured call up Haydar, play him in a top 6 roll maybe with Stastny and Wolski, to make the transition easy. If Haydar sucks...fine send him back and call up Stoa.
Haydar has been given plenty of shots at the NHL, he hasn't managed to stick. Not sure where you're getting your information from.
This. He said at the beginning of the year that this was his final year of trying before heading to Europe. The guy has been an AHL star but hasn't stuck after spending time in 3 other farm systems. He has been OK in LE but hasn't exactly been a savior. If Hensick can't stick with the big club how could someone even consider Haydar as being due?

Few in the league are creating as well as Lake Erie's H & H. Haydar has eight points in his last six games; Hensick, nine in his last six.
If any of y'all have a link, quote or inside information that leads to Haydar having a bad attitude in the AHL, I'd love to ****ing see it.
It's just feels kinda funny that while the AVs are struggling to outscore opponents fans are resorting to character assassinations on AHL players.
So what makes you a big expert on all things Darren Haydar? Have you been watching him play in Lake Erie? I suppose we should call up Hensick RIGHT NOW since he's doing so well, right? I mean, he did so well up here in the NHL the team finally risked waiving him.
Darren Haydar has been playing professionally since 2002. He couldn't crack the roster of the expansion Predators nor could he stick with a depleted Atlanta Thrashers squad. He was brought in here to make the Monsters better, not the Avs. I don't know if it was him doing the pouting nor do you, but those who are supposedly "assassinating" his character have qualified it by saying IF it were Haydar then send him packing. And indeed, if it were him and I were a coach/scout/manager in the organization, I wouldn't call him up.
Also, part of calling a player up is identifying what role he'll play once he's here. Mercier fits the role of a grinder better than Haydar would, and so does Yip.

I don't really consider 22 NHL games in 3 different stints on piss poor Atlanta/Nashville teams is really a good opportunity to showcase what you've got.

Really? He's supposed to crack the roster of a good team? How does that work? Usually if a team is good they don't have a ton of roster spots to spare, if any, and when they do it's most certainly not for a scoring line winger.

I have seen three games on TV this year so I am not an expert but in the action I have seen he looks OK but given his size and history but I have no question why Stoa or Mercier would get the call first. This is not a character assasination, it was a statement that "IF" Haydar was the one (only he and Hensick have a legit beef based on caliber of play and Hensick has to clear re-entry waivers to come back and he must know that) he would have to give his head a shake. Honestly any professional athlete that gets bent over this kind of situation needs some objectivity. They are still employees of an organization and their management are the ones accountable for determining suitability in any circumstance. I find this kind of thing troubling if true no matter the player.
