DAMMIT!

Didn't want Heatley, didn't want to lose Michalek. This sucks all the way around.

Well, at least you have a Thornton-Heatley-Marleau top line.

Like it or not this is a pretty good value trade for the Sharks. Cheechoo is more than replaceable and Michalek to Heatley is huge, and the second isn't a big loss.

A 5th round pick is also heading back to the SHarks in 2010

Im good with this if Patty sings a contract in San Jose. Losing Milan and Patty will be a killer as they were the best two way guys on the team.

What I do know is our Top Six might be the best in west if they play with some intensity.

I new the sens wanted Milan the entire time, he just got suckered into Cheech. Though I can see cheech rebounding and putting up 25 or 30 over there.

I like it.

Hate losing Milan and Cheech. Cheech is one of my fav Sharks and I always had high hopes for Milan that haven't quite panned out yet.

Wish them both luck, but many thought Cheech would have to go for Cap reasons and this looks like a great deal.

Well there's some humble pie that needs to be eaten by a few Sens fans if that's the deal. That's pretty much the consensus price tag that Sharks fans have been saying for ages but kept getting shot down.

If this is the full, definitive deal - I applaud Wilson. Sad to see Michalek and Cheechoo go but Heatley is a star.

Heatley - Thornton - Setoguchi
Marleau - Pavelski - Clowe
McGinn - Mitchell - ? (Hinote)
Shelley - Nichol - Ortmeyer

So what's the updated cap situation? Can we still have a full roster with Marleau and Heatley on the same team or do we need to shed salary to get a full roster? Thx to the cap geeks!!

This is a good trade for the Sharks. Michalek is going to be a permanently underperforming second line winger and Cheechoo was clearly not going to regain 50 goal form. Actually, I think this is salary cap beneficial for the Sharks too.

So we lose both Michalek and Ehrhoff in the same off-season. Great.

We drop Cheechoo along with his heavy price tag, a player who while a fan favorite, was clearly never going to rebound into goal-scoring form again. He is definitely replaceable, and at a lower cost.

Michalek is someone you obviously don't want to lose, but when you're upgrading to Heatley, someone who can simply fill his position and do a better job, it's a win for the Sharks.

A second-rounder on top of that isn't that bad. This is a great deal for us. It might hurt now, but once the season starts, we'll be very, very happy.

It'll be fun trying to think of the top 6 now. I wonder if Marleau could play RW to Thornton along with Heatley, or if we would be better served to have his speed in place of Michalek's on Pavelski's left wing, as is suggested by SharkyMcWoo

Well Dunston Wilson managed to trade my 3 favorite players on the Sharks in less than a month. Congrats!!

I spent a whole 5 minutes on this to post in the Trade Forum and got no love. Hoping for better here

Oh, and I hate to say I told you so, but if you read my last post in the locked thread, I totally called Michalek as the centerpiece of the trade. Someone give me props!
