Buccigross must be feeling pretty smug right now.

Sad to lose Milan but hot damn what a steal!

You'd have to assume one of Marleau or Nabokov is now a guaranteed departure next year when Pavs and Setoguchi are due substantial raises.

Even if Patty took, say, a $1-2m pay cut it won't be enough, especially if the cap drops.

Does this make gucci right or wrong? Heatley did go to the Sharks, but not a 3 team deal.

Good Trade, Michalek and Cheechoo were dead weight in the playoffs anyway. Not that Heatley will solve that problem but at least they'll score more so we don't have to rely on the defense like we did in the second half of the year. I really can't wait to see our power play now!

pavs should make what 4mil if he continues to improve, Gooch is up in the air, who really knows at this point, there are still major holes in his game but he can definitely shoot.

I like Bucci, but he can't be too smug. He was right on with Heatley (fell out of the window by about 12 hours), but definitely messed it up with the Marleau and LA part of it.

I am surprised that DW didn't overpay for Heatley. Not sure though if the Sharks really improved much or not. Michalek is one helluva player to lose IMHO. I guess we'll have to see.

I will say, I'm stoked to see our 1st pp unit...

Marleau - Thornton - Heatley

Blake - Boyle

That just looks like hell on ice for the opposing team.

Definitely like the move, looks like a steal for us. I really liked Michalek but the upgrade form him to Heater is too much for me to not love this trade.

Are there any consequences for Thornton's contract/salary? Being highest earner n' all - now he's not!

I'm not a big Heater fan..but I definitely think that DW and the Sharks walked away from this trade as the winner. Tough to lose Milan, but Heater should score a ton of gino's on Thornton's wing. I just hope Heatley can can his head back in the game, and concentrate on hockey now.

I'm just shocked (and happy) that DW was able to get Heatley and didn't have to trade Marleau. That's crazy.
