Carey Price comes back with his live-in girl friend
On "La Zone" (radiocanada.ca), it was mentioned that Carey Price is back in better spirits and has learned from his previous experiences. This we likely all know.
But, what interested the guys on "La Zone" even more is the fact that Price has come back, accompanied by his girl friend from back home and that they've bought a house & are living together.
Enrico Ciccone says that this follows Bob Gainey's philosophy very well because, when he was in Minnesota, he would encourage players to live with their wives in the city and that he wouldn't 'discourage' players to marry young. The reason for this is that these players would more likely be better grounded and less likely to get caught up with habits that would be personally destructive and distractive to the team.
On the other hand, Martin Leclerc, another of the speakers hopes that Price will have gotten within himself the desire to come home at a good time instead of having his wife be the one to always remind him.
Well it makes sense. Ever watch The Rocket? I know it's a fictionalized account, but Lucille really was a soothing presence for Maurice.
People can say what they want about women, but the right one really makes you a better man. Probably a better professional too, in this case. When something does not go right at work you know there is one place that is always going to be right. It sounds lame, but a sanctuary in a hockey mad city like Montreal is the best thing players can hope for.
Anyone else think Gainey crossed the line in getting involved in player's personal lives?
1) He has no choice because most of the players are dumb and immature.
2) He is the GM and as long as they are under contract with the team, he manages them.
3) He drafted them so his ass and name are on the line with their names as well.
