Garcia asked for his release from the Raiders. In fact, Cable said he was "shocked" by it. So, he was certainly good enough for the Raiders - did you really kid yourself that he wasn't?

yes.. he was good enough, but he wasnt going to play. Thats why he left.

Garcia is there to get to week 3 or 4. By then Vick will be back and Kyle Kolb can continue reading coverages with the headset on. Then Mcnabby comes back and Garcia goes back to playing Golf. Its that simple... Kolbs going to get the start.. he knows the Offense and the players better than Garcia. That dosent mean Garcia wont get time. If Kolb really sux, then Garcia will see time.

So why not just start Garcia and save us all a headache?

Yup. Kolb has put in the time and deserves to, at the very least, start the game. If he struggles and it's obvious he's overmatched, even after practicing with the first team all week, then I have no problem switching to Garcia. The bottom line is this: Garcia hasn't been in this offense for two seasons, Kolb has. If nothing else, the Eagles have to see if Kolb has the potential to be a starting QB in this league in the future. You don't just throw in the towel on a second round pick before giving him a chance to show you what he can do as a starter.

ridiculous to tink that Garcia will start over Kolb next week. even if you accept that Garcia is better than Kolbright now (which I don't), then you have to understand that Kolb had all preseason in the system, with his teamates. Garcia did not.

Man, where were you level headed people when I tried to say we shouldn't call Kolb trash yet. Some reasonable posts here lately.

Actually at this time the unknown is Garcia. The coaches have been able to see Kolb work with THIS team and play and practice with this guy. Garcia is an unknown in terms of what he would bring to THIS team. The coaches understand what Kolb can do...that is why you start him as opposed to the guy who hasn't been around the team in years.

I heard this morning on FOX 29 that Kolb will definitely start this week, over Garcia.

Still didn't really get the joke. Sorry I'm crabby this morning.

Kolb will start though, and that's the right move.

Fox news IMO blows, that's why I called it fake news.

And Kolb IMO also sucks. I would let Garcia start in a heartbeat over Kolb. Garcia is the pro-bowl quarterback who is more likely to succeed. I could care less if he knew the system, it's a hybrid west-coast/vertical pass offense and Garcia IMHO will play better then Kolb next week.

Garcia was 5-1 the last time he was here, then went to the Pro-bowl the following year with Tampa. He is a 4-time Pro-bowl player and had a respectable year last year in Tampa. He didn't stay in Oakland, but who cares? Does that all of a sudden means he sucks?

Kevin Kolb has shown nothing, and unless he absolutely has to play, I'd rather go with Garcia next week. I want the Eagles to win, and I think Garcia gives us the better chance of doing that.

Is our local news really the same thing?

The fact he hasn't shown us anything in all the time he has gotten proves to me that he sucks.

That's kinda the point right? When players get playtime and do nothing, you say they suck, right? Or am I missing something?

All the playing time he's gotten? He's gotten significant time twice, neither of which a start. I haven't been impressed, but I just don't know that I'm ready to make such dramatic proclamations about a guy who's thrown a grand total of 45 passes in the NFL.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand it's another year of Eagles football without Shawn Andrews. The Eagles put him on IR today, effectively ending his season. Now, the only thing left to wonder is whether or not his career is over. What a damn shame, such a waste of elite talent.

Then why give him time over a better quarterback in Jeff Garcia?

Jeff Garcia is 40 years old and, much more important, won't even have had a full week of practice before sunday's game.
