haha, nice hook to get us to enter the post though. I was like..."noooo, they couldn't have..." and then it wasn't Steve.

"Wilson told right wing Lee Stempniak, who struggled last season with the Leafs, scoring 11 times in 61 games, was the most improved player after the opening on-ice session."

Hm...

Hm...
This guy has to have a way better year than last. Trading Carlo and Alex for this guy seems to be overpayment right now.

Interestingly, Thomas and Kessel have the same agent.

Quote:
Team Sittler (LW-C-RW)

1. Tlusty-Bozak-Hanson
2. Wallin-J.Mitchell-Stempniak
3. Slaney-Allison-Stefanovich
4. Champagne-Rosehill-Rogers

Team Armstrong

1. Orr-Primeau-Mayers
2. Ponikarovsky-Grabovski-Kulemin
3. Thomas-Foster-Greenop
4. Giliati-Berry-D.Mitchell
Awesome that the Poni-Grabo-Kulemin line will be together already.

Toronto Maple Leafs coach Ron Wilson confirmed that he plans to play newcomer Mike Komisarek with Tomas Kaberle, and Francois Beauchemin with sophomore Luke Schenn, in his top-two defence pairings to begin the season.
Good.

Leafs defenceman Mike Van Ryn, whose 2008-09 season was limited to only 27 games after two concussions and knee ailment, practised but did not participate in the scrimmage on Sunday. The club wants to ease him back into contact drills and scrimmages.
Is this not worrying? Should he not be 100% by now? If he still can't take a hit without getting his bell rung, maybe he should opt for an early retirement instead of risking the brain damage.

He needs to work on his defensive play, he did put up over 40 points.

What's the story on Bill? Cousin of Dave?

No Hagman and Blake either, although they make more sense as exclusions than Stalberg and Stajan.

Someone with a concussion can be cleared and seem fine, but once the rough stuff starts, things can flare up again. Take your time with 2-3 days of drills and light hitting before you go into a scrimmage and get railed by some goon trying to make an impression. MVR's health is a worry no matter what. This does not add to it.

Hopefully his head is fine now though. I really liked him on our blueline when he was actually playing. And from what I remember our record with him was substatially better than without

huh. looks like Wilson's got a damn good idea of what the lines will be already.

Hagman - Stajan - Blake
Poni - Grabo - Kulemin
Wallin - Mitchell - Stempniak
Orr - Primeau - Mayers
(Tlusty - Bozak - Hanson)

with Allison and Kadri on the outside looking in for now, but with a real chance of cracking the top-6 if they impress.

and with that extra line there right in the mix for a regular spot, and not really on the outside looking in at all.

Galvin, 29, played the past two seasons for the Grand Rapids Griffiths.
http://hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=23255

not much of a fighter/goon, looks like an offensive defenceman for the marlies. Not much time up in the pros, but he's also been under the Red Wings defencemen for a while.

it'll be interesting if he produces as a marlie or if he even gets a contract (which i expect he will)

dont know much about the UHL though or how good it is... has played some time in the ECHL (Atlantic City and Reading), the UHL (Quad City and Muskegon), and the AHL (Grand Rapids)

no NHL time, and i dont understand why they want to sign him. I dont see him being much better than any of our current top 6 but looks like he'll be one to finish off his career in the AHL.

dont understand why Burke is bringing in more defencemen when we should be looking for gems in the forwards

I'm going to assume there's three or four different practice "teams" at this point in camp.

Good I like Stemps....and to be honest i think Stemps will be the reason Allison gets signed...i think those 2 will have chemisty.

I also think Bill Thomas gets signed to a two-way deal worth league min.

He'll be used as an emergency call-up.
