For some reason I think our lines are gonna end up something close to this

Brunette-Koivu-Havlat
Pouliot-Bouchard-Sykora
Miettinen-Sheppard-Nolan
Boogaard-Brodziak-Clutterbuck

Like the money and the term.

Don't like the fact that both of Minny's offensive signings sat out of the playoffs to end their seasons.

After the inevitable injuries, the lineup will look like this:

Miettinen-Koivu-Brunette
Bouchard-Sheppard-Clutterbuck
Pouliot-Belanger-Weller
Scott-Brodziak-Gillies

John Scott won't play forward, They'd bring up a forward from Houston before they'd send big John Scott out there.

While I like Sheppard, he seems to be a better fit at wing that center. His FO % was about 42% the last couple years, and he's best at battling for the puck along the boards and in the corners.

Bouchard is getting a look at center because he's a better passer/playmaker than forechecker (understatement of the year).

Personally, I would run these lines:

Brunette - Koivu - Havlat
Sykora - Bouchard - Nolan
Sheppard - Brodziak - Clutterbuck
Pouliot/Boogaard - Belanger - Miettinen (possibly the most overpaid 4th line in the league?)

I know a lot of people are complaining about Sykora being too little scoring to fix the team, but there are only a handful of 40+ goal scorers in the league, Koivu and Havlat could both be 30+ goal scorers with a more open system (Brunette is a solid setup man), so Sykora would be a fit on the second line.

If he does play with Bouchard, a great passer, I'd expect Nolan or Clutterbuck on the wing to open up the play a little bit (I'd put Nolan up there because he's more experienced).

The third line has Sheppard on the wing because Brodziak is much, much better at faceoffs, and I like Sheppard down low instead of up high. Clutterbuck does his thing skating around and making hits, but he's a very underrated shot and one of our better 5-on-5 goal scorers last year (not saying much, but hey). And Richards loves him.

The fourth line could be a good checking line if need be and I'm sure Belanger and Miettinen will be out there for every PK anyway.

Now you see why I trust Jaro Henys more than some GM or Minnesota beat writer. And Vlad Vujtek was not such a bad player. He's not the worst agent either .

You can only speculate why it took them 3 days to confirm that signing. Try-out?

This is a good move (and I'd say it for any other team, not just because I'm a Wild fan.)

His production fell off because of a separated shoulder in early march, so if he's completely healthy now, Minnesota should get about 20-30 goals for 1.6 mil, if not more.

Bottom line is that Minny needed secondary scoring (or just scoring in general,) and now they got a guy who can take advantage of the playmaking/passing skills of guys like Brunette, PMB, Koivu, and Sheppard.

Bruno-Koivu-Havlat
Clutterbuck/Pouliot-Bouchard-Sykora
Nolan-Sheppard-Miettinen
Pouliot/Clutterbuck-Brodziak-X

Where X = Boogy, Kalus, or Hilbert.

Bouchard should play 2nd line center. Sykora should play with Bouchard. Bruno should play with Koivu. Clutterbuck will add toughness to the 2nd line. Pouliot will get some 2nd line minutes with Bouchard and Sykora too or cover for injuries to other players. Nolan, Sheppard, Miettinen would be a great 3rd line. Defensively sound but with good potential to provide secondary scoring.

You get props for being on top of it.

And it'd be nice to get the story as to why there was the delay/conflicting reports.

I hope Sykora can have a resurgence with Minnesota. I really liked him playing for the Pens, and even back to his days with the Ducks. But at the end of the year and into the playoffs he was useless and no where to be found. Though he probably won't play much with Havlat, but I hope those two are paired up and they tear it up.

Nice signing.

I see the lines like this...based off the scrimmages and hearing Richards' interviews.

Bruno-Koivu-Havlat
Sykora-Bouchard-Clutterbuck (Richards loves him...he's young and has off. potential)
Mittens-Sheppard-Nolan
Boogy-Belanger-Brodziak (Brodziak will take draws)

Schultz Johnsson
Burns Zanon
Hnidy Zidlicky

Just a question for those that followed Havlat or Sykora more than I have...

Has any one of them ever played the point for the PP?

I suppose the first PP will be
Sykora-Koivu-Havlat
Burns-Zidlicky

But then we have too many passers on the 2nd...

Brunette-Sheppard-Nolan
Johnsson-Bouchard??

If one of them has played the point, then I'd rather see..

Bruno-Koivu-Sykora
Burns-Havlat

Could be as simple as Sykora reporting and passing a physical.

I'm fine with the signing. Picking up a proven scorer for cheap shouldn't hurt. I have no clue where Sykora should slot in though. We have a overflow at C and RW.

For Sykora, this would a truly cataclysmic idea.

You need to have a US work visa to sign a contract.

One might let their US visa expire if one was considering playing with the KHL.

Legalities are a funny business.

Yeah, well you probably wouldn't know Ling or Racicot if they bit you either. I've actually MET Dennis Bonvie's cousin when he got pissed off Walmart doesnt receive after 12noon on Fridays. I have no tats and I've never coached a game in my life and have met Theodore, Ling, Stevenson, Robidas, Higgins, and Flemming.

Doesn't mean I know anything though. Zarley is a bum.

His production fell off right when Bylsma came here. We dunno if it was his injury ( i never really heard or saw that he was injured, except the 1 playoff game he finally came back and got injured in), he can't hack it in the system, or he's done.

Bingo. From Russo's blog:

So, the end of knee-jerk "Why isn't it on TSN then?" comments? Probably not.
