Gagne-Richards-Powe
Hartnell-Carter-Pyorala
JvR-Giroux-Briere
Carcillo-LaPerriere-Asham

Pronger-Coburn
Timonen-Parent
Carle-OKT
Jones

Emery
Boucher

There is about $836K left under the cap with all of these players on the bench.

Not that I don't believe you but where did nhl numbers mess up then? http://www.nhlnumbers.com/overview.p...HI&season=0910

They have the Flyer's with 2.156 mil left. They have Cote on there and you don't so let's take away his salary then they would have 2.7 mil. I'd imagine that JVR would be getting Staal money since they were both #2 overall picks. So they would only have 200k-400k after him and that's not counting Pyorala or OKT. Not sure how this all works out the way you say it does?

Way to highjack the thread Philly fans...jk

You think that Cote won't be in the lineup? Pretty sure that w/ teams like NY dressing Brashear & Pens dressing Rupp/Godard that Philly will continue to dress a heavyweight pretty regularly

Lappy/Carcillo/Asham can fight but are all middleweights

The team payroll makes sense and is 56.847 but why are they subtracting JVR's and Parent's bonuses? If that were the case the Penguin's would of had an extra 1.5 or so of cap space last year if you subtracted Staal's bonus.

Either way his salary is less than I thought so they could definitely have JVR.

Kennedy is just one and the current of the many players who have been inserted into this formula.

For some it's hard to realize the difference between a good 3rd liner to someone with actually top 6 talent.

To answer the original question though... Letang.
Your right, How dare I assume Kennedy will breakout past his previous point totals of 19 (55gp) and 35 (67GP). Especially getting top 6 time.

Man, excuse me everyone, I'm sorry! My fault. Please don't hold this against me, I've had too much to drink.

That's fine I'm just saying I'm 99.9% sure that you never subtract bonuses from the total payroll. I'm basing this on following the many Penguin's contracts who had bonuses in the last few years. (Malkin, Crosby, Staal, MAF to name a few)

So according the roster you set they would only be 47k over the cap. Point being you are right they can fit JVR if they want to, but they just won't be able to carry many if any extra skaters on their roster. Anyone else have any input on this?

Your missing the point. I'd be a millionaire if I had a dime for everytime I heard a fellow Penguin's fan overrate a 3rd line talent. Obviously if he plays with Malkin there is a good chance that he will be a little more productive and it work just like Talbot did but let's just not act like he's legit top 6 talent. Besides there's just as much reason to think it won't work at all considering he's looked completely lost in his few other brief chances on a top line.

You don't subtract bonuses from payroll, but you are allowed to exceed the cap by up to 7.5% for bonuses. If the bonuses are reached the "net" amount over the cap is carried over and counts against the next year's cap hit.

It sounds like JVR will be making the Flyers from all reports that I've read, he's been on a line w/ Giroux & Briere...right?
