it's not 100% passive, first of all.

second, the bigger problem is that they lost nate, who was creating and finishing. and weiss has been ineffective. they still generative several amazing chances versus calgary. they finish one of them and we're singing a different song right now i guarantee you.

not buying it.

Lets be realistic. Horton isn't the reason why there is such a poor effort. Scoring is one thing but players flat out not playing hard has NOTHING to do with Horton.

the energy has been there most nights. the wind is just out of their sails right now. as PLF said, the problem is with the application. the energy was there in carolina, they just played a **** game. they were aggressive at the wrong times, cute at the wrong times, etc., etc.

the last couple of games have looked bad because everyone's feeling the pressure. thing is, a goal or two at the right time can change quite a bit. they were getting those goals just ONE WEEK AGO.

Rags put Brashear on waivers...I doubt DB would play him but he adds toughness that Not-So-Nasty Nick is not bringing with Mac in Rochester.

If after a 10 game stretch of going 6-2-2, players get tired of playing the system, the problem is the players, not the system.

There are teams that win playing defensive hockey. Not every team is the Washington Capitals, and as much as I've criticized DeBoer, he really doesn't have much of a choice, here, especially with his best offensive players banged up.

I understand both sides of the argument. I do think Pete's doing the right thing right now with the personnel we have. We just can't score, no matter if we're aggressive or not. Horton's out and Weiss just isn't effective with that back injury. Cutting down on GA is our best chance of winning right now.

However, players can tune out pretty quickly from a 'boring' style. There's a lot of speculation out of Boston that the reason they're so bad this year is that the B's have tuned Julien out because they just don't want to put in the work required to play that system anymore. I don't think it's players being lazy, I've heard that across all teams across all leagues. It's more fun to play a fun system, it's just as simple as that. Although, the Panthers tuning out DeBoer after only 1-2 weeks, yeah that sucks. Especially when they have to realize this is their best chance of winning with the lack of firepower they have in the lineup.

Vokoun can't play lights out the entire season. We need goalscorers. The sooner the fans and more importantly owners realize that, the better off this franchise will be.

The past week counts too...
Not to mention that stat wasn't all that good a week ago, anyway.

over the last 4 games, this team has crashed. rewind back to the end of january, though. after beating montreal playing a *fantastic* and pretty exciting defensive game (giving up, what, 15 shots?), they played well but faltered and were overwhelmed by a caps team firing on all cylinders that friday. next game, on sunday, they went out and shut down the isles. at that point, they were in 7th place and 6-2-2 in the last 10. they had switched to a conservative game plan a mere 2-3 weeks before and now were playing sound defense, getting 2-3 goals a game and were competing for points every night and getting them. what story does that tell, laus? it means *it's not the ****ing system* that's the problem.

THAT'S MY POINT. and i'm right
Didn't read, don't have to. Sorry, standings tell all.

No, that's just more of the same: wrong enforcers for this team. Ideally, if we had to decide on an enforcer who's available and is overpaid, I'd rather go with Laraque. He doesn't fight as much, but hes a better player than Brashear is.

Really, neither guy works.

Wow, Cullen's a decent 2nd line center (13 goals I think). I just can't believe the value for some of these guys. We get a 2nd rounder for Moore, now Cullen gets a 2nd and Picard? Today should be VERY interesting for the Panthers.

Rattrick's giddy response reminds me of a line from the movie, Wall Street.

"Greed, is good."
