Idk, there will be a lot of bidders for Versteeg. #50 might not get it done. You don't know what Tallon is going to do. 5 picks in the top 50, I can definitely see him possibly trading one of the 2nds for a player. Tallon is going to try to make the playoffs next season, LeBrun has already said that's why he's keeping Vokoun, because he doesn't want to bottom out. Way too early to say we won't be making the playoffs next season. Season doesn't start tomorrow.

Worth noting like the passing of Haley's Comet and just as frequent.

Yeah, let's keep Bouwmeester for the Playoff Push!

Kovalchuk essentially nets the Thrashers Oduya, Bergfors, Cormier, Byfuglien, Sopel and Eager. That's half their team. 3 minutes ago via web ]

This is how Eklund gets people to believe that all of his rumors are true, and that he hears about 200 rumors a day. He has some sources and once in a while he will get something right. Then the suckers come in...

Well, he has to say that he will try to make the playoffs ofc. Why would fans attend games of a team that gave up before the season even started. But we all know that we won't make it, but I guess we have to wait until the FA is up and take a look at the roster we have. I want the 1st overall next year and draft SC.

Chicago doing a big trade, not with us...

Chicago to send Byfuglien, Sopel, Eager and Akim Aliu to Atlanta for 24th overall pick, 54th overall pick, Marty Reasoner and Jeremy Morin.

Not sure where this leaves Versteeg, if he stays or goes.

^^ I am sick of freaking losing, so Id rather Tallon make this roster as quickly competitive as he can, in a non-retarded fashion. No tanking, please.

If we get Veersteeg, he can replace probably 80% of Horton's offense. We need more than that to make the playoffs. Where are we going to get more offense? I highly doubt we make a free agent signings but Tallon does like to make a splash in free agency.

the thrashers got absolutely fleeced. more than one anonymous GM laughed at the notion of giving up a first rounder for byfuglien, even mocked the hawks for the asking price. the thrashers gave up a first, second, decent prospect AND took on Sopel's deal. Terrible.

Let's see, it will be exciting. FA's like Lombardi and Frolov might be a possibility. Marleau i guess is out of the pricerange.

Lombardi wont do much for our offense. Frolov doesn't seem like a Tallon type of guy. I would like Marleau but we all know that is very unlikely to happen.

No, we don't know that. That's ridiculous. People are acting like Tallon can't make any more moves. Everyone just take a deep breath. It isn't even the draft yet, let alone July 1st. Tallon is not paying lip service. If he wanted to tank, he would trade Vokoun. All indications are that he will not.

Lombardi isn't a star or anything, but he's a good 2nd line center. That's what I'd look for as a free agent singing for center, someone like him or Prospal. Unless we trade for one.

Yup, that's what I said when I posted the top 10 center free agents. I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE Marleau, but I agree that's not happening, so Lombardi would be the ideal FA signing to be our 2nd line center.

Sorry. Yeah, they definitely got fleeced. Would have liked Buf, but not for that price. He was playing with Toews and Kane when he did so well, they don't have that in Atlanta. Though, I expect Buf will do well there, just not a good trade.

Again, VERY happy Duds was never brought in here.

We were actually talking about this in the "Around the NHL thread," I'm sure he'll still get moved out. They still have financial issues that need solving.

Thanks. Yeah, deal still not finalized, seems like they are still waiting on the league to put it through.

Better for us, now we wouldn't need to take Sopel to pull a trade with them. Hopefully Tallons still got some friends in their organization. Now that we've got the 2nd first round pick it wouldn't really hurt to give up one of our later 2nd rounders.

Looks like Chicago likes Duds. I'd rather go for Versteeg anyway. Hopefully he's still available.

In the words of Bob McKenzie:

"If I am reading Chi-Atl as yet unofficial "trade" correctly, it may not be consummated til Thur or Fri in L.A. Atl needs to move contract."

Should be a done deal as it is posted on the NHL site too.

Anyone think we can land Versteeg with a second rounder? We must keep the rest of the picks though and draft our future team.
