Thanks everyone! He's doing great & mom is recovering well after going all natural. I'm loving every day of this right now and we got home yesterday, so I needed to catch up on my Panther news the past 24 hours!
Actually I think Skrewy mentioned it in his conference call just the other day. It's still up on the Panthers site index. You'll have to listen to the whole interview, sorry heh. I think it's more towards the end though. I'll try looking it up too.
Campbell and Sharp being shopped after the Hawks chose to match Hjalmarsson's offer from the Sharks. Campbell's signed til 15/16 at a 7.14 cap hit, which sucks, but I wouldn't be overly upset if we could offload Olesz's contract and bring Sharp in, too. Campbell's at least a better player than Olesz.
Don't think that will happen, wonder if we could get Sharp from Chicago, may have to send Frolik, though.

Just some thoughts.
At first I wanted to get Sharp but now that it appears we are going to be in a great chance to draft a franchise forward and because of that I'm hesitant to make a move for him.
He would be a very good addition but you're probably right in it costing us Frolik. I think with Sharp and Weiss as our #1 and #2 centers it would allow us to once again finish short of drafting that franchise forward but not making enough of an improvement to sneak into the playoffs.
Not sure he would play Center but I think he could.

Not even Sharp would be enough for me to take Campbell. If Campbell's contract were shorter I'd deal, but 5 years is just too much time left imo.
and mccabe's contract is going to go poof soon I believe too so yes it makes alot of sense.

I know RR, and I certainly think Tallon is looking for Caber, Vokoun, and Stillman's contracts to come off the books after next season, so I'd imagine there's no chance we take that contract.
Wonder if Sharp can be had for a pick? Not likely, they're thin with signed players right now.

We need McCabe's contract to go poof, along with the others, as well. Next offseason is the real offseason for this organization. If they don't take advantage of the potential cap space with Markstrom coming in...I don't know what to say. Next offseason, the Panthers should have the type of attitude the Heat had this offseason. Now or never. It's a little different because we don't have a Dwayne Wade on this team to recruit others to the point where all the stars take less money to play with each other, but my point still stands. If we have to overpay, somewhat, to get some stars in here, so be it. Next offseason we get our talent.

yeah but big time FA's normally never want to sign with us unless they were ours first and still rarely. I just dont know.
There better be something else significant coming with Berglund. Is this just a rumor or is a trade likely?
Since you're the insider on this board, what is the organization's reasoning for moving Weiss? He's our only good center, a good leader, has a great contract, and wants to stay here.

He obviously undermined ownership by speaking badly about the confetti fiasco.
If the Panthers are seriously considering this, then maybe it's because they feel if they bomb another season then Weiss will want out. Or maybe just not sign any extension on his contract, which would have 2 years left at that point. I wouldn't blame him either. He said when asked a year ago that if the Panthers kept losing, it would eventually make him want to move on from Florida. So maybe get a replacement for him while his value is at it's highest, one's who's younger and has more years until UFA. That would basically ensure us dead last as well. It might sound far-fetched, but I think it's a possibility.
I agree though that more than Berglund would have to be coming back, obviously.
