I really like Anderson and wish him the very best, but Markstrom's right: we have to wait for more than two games before we anoint anyone.

Andy played great yesterday and shutout Luongo and the 'Nucks. I watched the whole game and the Avs defense, on paper, shouldn't be better than the Panthers. Granted, their forwards are more talented, but still, this is a team that finished 3rd worst last year and they've beaten SJ and Vancouver handily. Most goalies have been late bloomers until the past few years so Andy very well could be a top goalie that just took a while to develop.

Schubert's on re-entries. We're pretty set, though, and I'd guess he goes to the Habbers.

Off GR's blog:

-- Former Florida goalie Craig Anderson was the NHL's second star of opening week after the Colorado netminder stopped 73 of 74 shots faced in leading the Avs to a pair of wins.

anyways, saw the canucks last night, wow, i really thought they were going to come back from 4-1 but they come up short...luongo let in 3 goals in 3 shots lolsss what a horrible start of the season for him, and that sucks because i have him in my fantasy...will he be the next turco? lol you know something's wrong when raycroft has to come in

The difference is Vokoun has already proven himself as a good #1 goalie, he did a long time ago. The first game in Finland was just reconfirmation of that. Anderson hasn't proved that yet.

It's been more than one game. It's been since 2003, so about six seasons. I'm not claiming that Anderson isn't worthy of a starter's role, I think he is and time will prove whether I'm right or wrong, but he's still not nearly as proven as Vokoun is.

Exactly. The Panthers went with what was less of a risk. I don't blame for that. End of story as far as I'm concerned. Best of luck to Anderson. If he becomes the next Hasek, I can't blame the Panthers one bit for their decision because Vokoun is already proven and far less of a risk. Guys like Anderson work out like 10% of the time and that's pretty much a fact.

Denis Shvidki is in Finland, signed with Oulun Karpat for the rest of the season although including first month trial (I could offer a www.jatkoaika.com link but it's in finnish).

Good for him. I'm glad to see him back in broadcasting, and now in front of a much larger audience. The way the Panthers organization dealt with not re-signing his contract was just completely unprofessional especially for one of the most known names in the game.

Not for nothing, but 6 games in, the savior we walked away from (supposedly) in Tanguay has one point. And this with the superior offense of the Lightning.

*Yes, I definitely was hoping for him, but it is sometimes interesting how things work out. Still early and he can certainly get hot, ust going on a hunch that we'd all be slamming him, and someone would likely be saying how they knew he wouldn't work out, Sexton sucks, set the team back, blah, blah, blah.

That's terrible. He could have had a really good career had it not been for all the injuries. Just unlucky, I guess. Solid two-way defenseman if there ever was one.

I just read this on TSN. Van Ryn always seemed like a great guy off the ice and when was healthy gave it his all. Very sad news

his wife Amber is actually an old friend of mine. He's a very good guy and I really feel for him. Always liked his play when he was healthy.

Ouch, sad to here about Van Ryn. I mean I was glad we won the trade but I didn't want to see his career go down the drain

Best of luck to him.

Watching the Flames-Canuckleheads game, didn't realize there were so many former Cats on those teams. It's a little surreal.

Louie, Olli, Bouw, Hordi, Glass, Ryan Johnson, and I think McGrattan used to be our's at some point. I'm probably missing one or two, too.

Well, I saw part of it and seeing Louie get pulled for a $500,000 a year goalie made me so sad I be walking around laughing all day today.

Sorry to hear about Ryno.

And, boy, did Luongo get lit up last night!
