True enough, tough, I'm happy they try...I was one of those defending Koivu on the french "scandal"...he speaks it, but to shy to make mistakes.

So let me get this straight, Georges was captain of Boston College and Kelowna? He's gotta get the nod.

Gorges never played for BC, Gionta did and was Captain. Gorges wasn't captain of anything IIRC

Got this from Wikipedia about Josh Georges.

Regarding Captaincy:
"He played his junior hockey with the Kelowna Rockets of the WHL, where he helped the Rockets to a Memorial Cup championship in 2004 as their captain. He was also the captain for the WHL in the Canada-Russia challenge in November 2003. Gorges was also a member of Team Canada at the 2004 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships, where he won a silver medal."

Regarding Future Potential:
"Hockeysfuture calls him "a solid skater with adequate speed" who "is a good puckmoving defenceman who's effective on the power play with a decent point shot and playmaking abilities". What Gorges lacks in size and strength, he makes up for with his discreet and efficient abilities. Hockeysfuture projects him as a future #3 or #4 defenceman."

Just for Laughs:
"Gorges is nicknamed "the Boss", as in Josh the Boss Gorges."

Not a bad player. The Rivet for Georges and Pacioretty deal was a steal.

I believe that Gionta could be a great captain. He gives 100% every game, will put up anywhere from 55-70 points, plays a very good defensive game, and he will stand up to Chara despite his size. I have a feeling that Gio will play great for you guys in any situation.

, Brodeur basically said the same thing about him. Not anything about being a captain but all the other things. He also said that he scored many clutch goals for the devils and will be greatly missed. Thanks for your great input.

Did he play for BC before or after Kelowna? Can anyone actually confirm that he indeed played for Kelowna at all? Or was that George Laraque all along??

This picture seems to support my claim that Laraque was indeed captain of Kelowna...

Markov Denies Turning Down Captaincy(All Captain Discussion Here)

According to http://www.habsinsideout.com/

Quote:
Pat Hickey has a scoop in the dead-trees edition of The Gazette today:

Andrei Markov has told management he doesn't want to be captain.
and then posted on Dave Stubb's Twitter just minutes ago:

Quote:
Watch here this morning for camp notes. Markov should be a zoo today...
Update: From Stubbs twitter:

Quote:
Markov: I've not been asked about captaincy, didn't say one way or another if he'd take it if asked

So who is the next captain in Montreal going to be?

Surely the Gionta rumor is a friggin joke. But, looking at the Habs roster no one in particular stands out to me...especially w/ so many newcomers.

As a NYR fan knowing how vocal Paul Mara is I wouldn't be surprised if he got an 'A' on his jersey

My order of preference :

1. Cammalleri
2. Moen
3. Gorges
4. Gomez
5. Gionta

Those 5 I think could be decent captains.

Markov seems really shy and introverted. He doesn't like the spotlight, and there is no bigger spotlight in this league than Captain of the Habs. It would likely have a negative effect on his game, thats the last thing this teams needs from their MVP.

They should just rotate C's until it becomes apparent who the real leader is..

That article I posted indicates that there's a strong chance that Montreal will at least start the season w/ a rotating captaincy
