SPORTS REPORTER

Perhaps the Monster is really the Invisible Man.

Jonas Gustavsson, the Maple Leafs' hightly touted rookie goaltender, did not take to the ice today for a morning scrimmage as scheduled.

The Leafs offered no comment on the no-show, asking reporters to wait until coach Ron Wilson's afternoon scrum for more details.

The 6-foot-4 goalie signed as a free agent out of Sweden was taken by ambulance to hospital suffering from dehydration on the first day of camp.

I believe Damien Cox also made reference to a groin pull in yesterday's paper.

Not a good start for the Monster.

If he is injured, Joey Mac is a more than decent backup.

Probably a groin. Hopefully it's nothing too serious. Don't rush him back. If he needs 1 month, give him one month.

good to see he came to camp in shape. he's already been to the hospital once and has now hurt his groin in a matter of 2 days.

For dehydration, and we don't know the severity of the groin. Could be, and likely is, precautionary.

No need to jump to conclusions on his work ethic after he's been in camp for two days.

I never claimed to know what the real situation is. You have zero comprehensive abilities.

I'm speaking more to how teams seem to rush players back from groin injuries, or let them play through them.

EKG heart issue shown up during the stress testing led to hospitalization and a heart procedure through the groin.

It's a common procedure in the general population.

Ron says the concern is now around ensuring that the incision isn't infected before resuming play.

Hmm.. So I was partially right! It did involve a groin.

Darren Dreger, eat your heart out.

Weird, Gustavson has test on his heart , which includes an incision at his groin. Common procedure, test was needed after stress test on Saturday...groin tweak on Sunday, not serious.

Selfishly, I was hoping to see him play tomorrow against Boston. I doubt its anything too serious, but still.

Heart issue? That's gotta be a little scary. Glad to hear He should be ok and just out to heal the wound properly. That's one lesson I learnt the hard way, had a huge cut on my elbow but refused stitches and kept playing. From my elbow to my wrist was puffed up and turned purple and yellow with infection. Never put your gross stinky pads over an open wound people!!
