So, am I crazy or is Teubert the suck so far this pre-season?

Reaper, no offense but I think you might be sniffing some glue. Teubert got beat wide twice on the rush, boarded a guy, then lost the fight he started because of it. Now this is all to be expected, and anyone who thought he had any chance of coming anywhere near the Kings opening night roster this year needs to have their head checked, but he was NOT good tonight.
Also Schenn & Clifford were invisible. Mikus was the only one who seemed to be able to do anything on that line.

Mine was Moller-Loktionov-Purcell. Mikus-Schenn-Clifford played OK, but I thought the Loktionov line was the best of the night, mostly because of Purcell, who looks MUCH better than last year.
Williams also had a really good game. If he and Purcell play all season like the did tonight, we are in very good shape.

Agreed, on all counts. Teubert was terrible. Made one good play but followed it up by quickly losing the puck. That boarding/fight was ridiculous and stupid. Mikus played much better than he did at the two rookie games. I like his shot.
Was in the team LA store and Mr. Futa our scout came into the store to buy some stuff for his daughter and we had about a 10 min chat. All Jr players are going to be sent home tomorrow. With the exception of 2 or 3 who Dean has hand picked to take a closer look at. I think the 3 are Schenn, Lokionov and Clifford. Who of course all played here in LA in front of the main scouts.
Purcell looked great tonight. And hes a lot bigger now then he was last year. I think hes going to have a 40 point year(personal opinion) with the Kings.
Smyth and Kopitar have great chemistry. Justin Williams scares the crap out of me. Because he is easily one of the nicest guys around and even though he made a great move for the goal tonight he looks so dam uncomfortable. Hopefully that move he made gets his confidence out of the gutter from all the injurys.
I don't see anything special out of any of the prospects(which doesn't mean they arnt good, just not ready ala Doughty last year) but the regulars looked god dam good. Doughty, Johnson, Smyth, Kopitar, Purcell which I didn't expect too much(thought they would take it easy because its pre-season.)
Clifford is going to be alright in a few years(they think that when he slims up "because hes built like a wrestler" his skating will get up to NHL standards. Mikus will 70% be in Manchester has a slim chance of making it. Moller is not guaranteed a roster spot. (not my personal opinion.)
Schenn has a possibility of "ooo`ing" the Kings but the prospect of him going back to Jrs and possibly playing in World Jrs and in the Memorial cup is "to juicy of an experience to pass up."
Oh and to clear up any Teubert stuff. They arnt happy with him. When I asked Futa if we drafted Teubert #13 to be a goon or a defenseman he said "that play was stupid dont know whats going on up there."
And my personal opinion is that its not phyical tools because hes fine in his open ice passing and his phyical game. But when a guy is trying to go around him...He is thinking too much Do I hit him and be "mr. mean teubert" or do I "make the right play." his conflicted its obvious. He got beat to the outside about 3 times that I can recall and once on the inside by Turris.
Tuebert looked awful, got burned a couple of times, took a stupid penalty then got into a fight and got absolutely rocked twice by Taylor Pyatt. To be honest to Tuebert the extra two minutes he got was quite the BS. He does have a pretty decent shot.
Doughty looked like Doughty, but his greatest play of the game was him absolutely clocking Ryan Hollweg. It was nice.
Jack Johnson played amazing, it was outstanding, he was the best King and his second goal was a beauty. Went from his own blue line and then beat Turris and scored. His wrister that went in was a picked corner but give the credit to Ryan Smyth who had Montoya so screened he never saw it.
Who knew that our PP would look so good with Moller, Purcell, Smyth, Williams and Johnson. I know they were not against the best PK units but they absolutely dominated each PP they had. Moller and Purcell made a lot of good plays down low.
I have a feeling that in 2-3 years we're going to have the same feeling while watching Kyle Clifford that we had watching Wayne Simmonds last year. He just looks like a guy that LA fans will absolutely love.
Boedker's goal was absolutely sick in my mind, the puck was maybe about an inch past the goal line and he fired it straight in. The Angle looked almost impossible, don't know how he did it.
I probably missed more but oh well, that's what I know.

Thanks for the input. Very interesting stuff. The Purcell stuff doesn't surprise me, I expected him to perform well, and I am starting to get used to Frolov being on the third line, though I really don't like it and will never be 100% with it. I hope Moller steps it up as well... Also, I hope all juniors are sent back. Our club is pretty decent right now, I think they should stick with our core/veterans and older prospects, I don't see a need to rush anyone and get a new face this season. Hopefully we stay healthy and our regulars play they have been poised to for a while now.

I just got back from the game.
I don't know what game you were watching, but Williams looked GREAT to me. He was very active, pressured the puck all over the ice, put shots on net (led the team in shots), stole the puck in the offensive zone quite a few times. He impressed me a lot more than Smyth did.
And Doughty was more than just Doughty. He looked stronger out there tonight than last year. I can't remember if it was our 1st or 2nd goal - but it was his outlet pass that got the whole thing started. Phoenix was looking for him to pass to the center of the ice, and instead he passed it all the way up to the left point. That one pass left Phoenix out of position and led to a goal. Great heads-up pass by him.

And the concession stands still suck.
I didnt say he was bad.......I said he looked uncomfortable.
btw...Sorry I didn't come up to say wasup to you today I was feeling sick as ****. Didnt want to walk up all the stairs LOL.

I saw it the opposite. I thought Smyth was uncomfortable reading Kopitar and Williams, who having played together, were more comfortable together. Smyth played hard, but not remarkably well. Kopitar and Smyth made some good plays, but they also had a ton of miscues.
Lokionov I forgot about him. 3...Open easy chances that he had to score and took all of them for granted. I wanted him to bury them so bad.
Well one of them he was just too small to reach. Looked like a great chance, but his stick wasn't long enough to get any power behind it. I remember one other than he just missed on, but should have had. I don't remember a third.

Has anyone mentioned how bad Scuderi was yet?
Guys...Not uncomfortable with Kopitar or with Smyth or otherwise. Just the way he looked when he was skating. Like hes skating without trying to bend his knees. Im not against him and I am hoping he has another great season. As a matter of fact I want more then maybe anyone for him to break through. Just looks uncomfortable thats all. It`s gonna take half a season.

I didn't take it as Williams' bashing, just something I didn't see personally. I thought a few times he was a little hesitant to make contact, if that is what you mean. Overall I was really happy with him tonight. I especially liked how he played the point on the PP, even though he got dumped pretty bad that one time... still made a good pass though.
Hey guys, just got back from the game. A few thoughts I had...
Jack Johnson and Drew Doughty were both amazing tonight. Johnson had such a sick shorthanded goal, deked 2 Coyotes and then owned Montoya. Such a great play. He looked mean out there too. Doughty absolutely leveled some guy, crowd got really excited.
Hickey looked pretty good out there. A lot of composure, and I'm glad I can say this, he looked like he got a lot bigger. He looks like a man more than a kid now. Some smart plays, I think he could make the team.
The Moller-Loktionov-Purcell line looked fantastic. Purcell is going to surprise a lot of people this year, he looks a lot bigger as well. Moller has too much heart to send him down to Manchester, he is always the first one in the corner regardless of who is about to hit him. Loktionov, if Stoll is hurt at the beginning of the season, could see some time at the start of the season. He looked really good today, made some nice plays. Looked more in place than out of it.
Mikus looked decent. Schenn and Clifford looked a lot better than he did though. Clifford isn't afraid of anyone. I like that.
Williams had one of the nicest goals I've seen in a long time. Well, nice moves, then stuffed in his own rebound. Awesome toe drag around a sliding defender.
Scuderi looked horrible out there. Made a stupid pass that lead to Korpikoski's penalty shot. Then was unlucky and had the puck deflected off his stick into the goal. Sure hope it was an off day for him, because he was the worst defender and player on the ice in a Kings sweater today.
Teubert needs to settle down. He is taking dumb penalties and is trying to fight too much. He needs to be a smart defender BEFORE being a goon. Lets worry more about not giving up a powerplay than acting like a big tough guy.
Kopitar just always looks lazy...
Smyth missed a couple point blank tap ins on some nice passes by Kopi and Williams. Who, by the way, looked pretty good out there together.
Bernier wasn't all that and a bag of chips. He looked decent and had no chance on the second goal, and the first was just an amazing shot by Boedker. But he still wasn't that great. Looked a little frantic.
Best rookies out there tonight were Schenn, Clifford, Loktionov, and Hickey. I'd be surprised if Hickey didn't make the team.

Was just going to ask about Hickey and how he looked. Thanks for the update. Hopefully someone else who went to the game can also comment on his play. I honestly don't think he'll make the team right off the bat, but I do think he'll get maybe a few games during the regular season. On the other hand Teubert......

I thought Hickey played a great game. Broke up a few passes, slowed down the forwards. Played smart in the defensive zone. Never looked lost and had the composure of a vet. The Kings defense is looking very good...besides Teubert. If Hickey keeps playing the same way he is going to stay and the other Drew is Manchester bound.
Purcell is going to be so good this year. He is earning lots of praise from the media and coaches. I hope he has breakout season.
I think the Smyth-Kopitar-Williams line is going to be outstanding.
Should be a fun season boys and girls!!
Man it was nice to be back at the Staples center and watching live hockey.
Too bad I was not in my section, my back was against the Staple Centers wall.
You know, I didn't notice Hickey all that much, but in the good way. When I did notice him he was making some really quick, safe decisions with the puck.
I thought Bernier was pretty confident, not stellar or anything, but very quick on a few rebounds. The first goal was a great shot, but Bernier was very slow to find the puck. It went behind the to net his right, then the player passed it back and Bernier thought the guy still had it for a second too long. It was quick, but his head wasn't swiveling enough. Notice that a few times, but credit Boedker who is so damn fast and slippery. Otherwise, he didn't gobble up many rebounds and chose to mostly bat them away to the corners, which icould be seen as anxious, but I saw as confidence and the fire to keep going. Sometimes absorbing it would have been smarter though. When there was a rebound chance, he was pretty quick to follow the puck. But the 3rd goal was all his fault.
