Which is something he is going to have to do more often to really make a place for himself on this team.

You hate Campbell that much? Besides, we won't play the Panthers very often.

No. I'd rather he play effective defense. Fighting is not something I want him to do regularly, and not just because he hurt himself doing it before.

I'm not sold on the value of fighting to begin with, but I do know I don't want a defenseman doing it. If a fourth-line forward like Laraque gets five minutes, you double-shift Cammalleri or something and that's that, it doesn't mess up your lineup and you lose a guy that doesn't take a regular shift.

If a D-man, even a bottom-pairing one, gets tossed for five minutes it puts more strain on all your other defenseman, and if one of them takes a penalty during the major, then you're down to four and those guys have to take much more frequent, taxing PK shifts and it tires out the defense.

I still think he needs to play more aggressive and needs to drop them from time to time. He has the size and of the guys on our back end he is the most likely to take Komi's place in that role. I mean Mara might be able to do it but I prefer him on the ice.
