No kidding. Stupid Leafs right? Sacrificing a rebuild by paying draft picks for old, washed up.....

Oh wait.

Kessel is a natural centre, but I'm pretty sure he played wing to either Krejci or Savard last year.

With just 60 assists in 200+ games, he sure doesn't seem like much of a centre.

Dang, if Kessel wanted that much then I'm glad PC traded him. I guess we'll be able to better evaluate this trade in ~5 years.

They now have 3 top 10 (two top 5) players 21 and under plus Tlusty (13th and 21).

Go Leafs!
I'm not happy- Kessel stays in the division, lol. But, I'm glad for the Leafs- I just wish that Kessel was healthy now so he help the team right away (to reduce the quality of Boston's draft picks- ) it's always depressing to see teams trade 1st rounders but you have to give and Kessel is proven.

Toronto is arguably one of the most improved teams from last season. They drafted 7th overall last season, so how does it makes sense that they will draft even lower this season? Some people are clueless.

So much for building through the draft.

Kessel was surrounded by good players in Boston. The difference between the Bruins forwards and the Leafs forwards is country drive and 40 liters of gas.

i think it's a mistake for the bruins not to get an active player back.

Seeing as they are contenders and can make a run this year.

I am not hardly saying that Kessel is old or that he's useless. I'm just saying that draft picks are the life force of a rebuilding process. While it will be nice to have him to build around, you give up what is likely to be a Top 10 pick, a Top 40 pick, and another Top 10 pick the next year for his services.

What i'm saying is that a rebuild does not occur with one player, especially when that player is Kessel. I don't see the Leafs prospect pool as being enough to assemble a full team in two two or three years.

Easily be top 5 picks? Are you for real? The Leafs are not going to be finishing bottom 5 this season or the next.

This is a risky deal for Boston. 2011 will be a weak draft and, if the Leafs have a good season this year, Boston could wind up with nothing more than a few marginal prospects.

Then again, Kessel being out for a while means that Toronto is going to play half the season with serious scoring problems. So, that could make it more likely Boston gets a good pick.

Right now, I think I like the deal more for Toronto than for Boston. But, it should work out well for both teams.

Boston gets what should be two top-15 picks in the draft for a guy who's going to disappoint Leafs fans initially.

Yeah, "bend over Boston". Kessel is not worth $5.4 million.

Decent deal for both teams. Leafs get a young star and the Bruins get good return for their asset.

Boston would have received a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd has Burke signed Kessel to an offer sheet, so the return is slightly better than what it should have been.

Wow, Burke is trading way too many picks. I thought the Bruins would at least get Grabovski or Matt Stajan.

I'd take Kessel over Perry. Carter is better at the moment, but he is also two years older.

Good deal for leafs

not so much for thge bruins due to the fact it is unlikely they will draft players anywhere as good as Kessel

Middle of the pack probably. If Kessel has a big impact on the roster the picks could actually be pretty low, especially if Burke is serious about continuing to improve the roster immediatly instead of building through the draft, something that appears to be the case with this deal.
