Leafs Tank Nation In Boston

Positive spin on the Kessel Trade...

With their 1st round Picks in 2010 and 2011 now property of the Boston Bruins I figure this thread will allow us to follow the progression of the Leafs this year and Bruins fans can unite in their cheering against the Leafs to better the placement of their picks.

All that is required is to read up, and add comments as the Leafs play this year and hope for a Tank where the 1st overall pick becomes a top ten or better.

Go (other team in the NHL against the Leafs that Night) Go!

Cheers

We all know how traded Leaf first-rounders end up.

We'll have mixed emotions. Like watching Bin Laden drive off a cliff in your new Porsche 911 Turbo.

But we benefit more by the Leafs getting hosed. Therefore, we *gulp* root for the habs, feel shame, take shower.

Okay - Tank Nation is alive and well. I like it.

Here are some major issues I see in Toronto:

The defense looks good on paper but will have zero depth. Komisarek played only 66 games last year, Finger played 66, Exelby played 59, Kaberle played 57, Frogren played 41, and Beauchemin played 20. Behind them is Ian "Bobby Orr, Paul Coffey, Ray Bourque, and Eddie Shore Hybrid" White (clearly better than Stuart), and Oreskovic. I think they're actually in some serious trouble with the defense the minute one of the top four goes down. Every team takes a bit of a hit when one of their defensemen is injured but Toronto especially so.

Offensively, they actually were in the top ten for goals scored last year. But just like Montreal, they have very, very few two-way guys. Kessel doesn't remedy this.

Of course Toskala is a B goalie and Gustavsson is (in my opinion) being rushed just like Price. We might see a good showing from Gustavsson at first but he'll fade down the stretch.

Good! Lets get some positives out of this move and really start to to turn those picks into something feasible!

Sticky this bad boy, because every Leafs game should be updated. Here's to hoping the first couple months have them right where we want them before Phil comes back. And here's to Chara looking for Phil to pull his toe-drag....

This is going to be a blast. I can't wait until the trade deadline. I hope it goes something like this:

Montreal Canadiens trade Ralph Backstrom to the Los Angeles Kings for Gord Labossiere and Ray Fortin.

The Habs held California's pick in the upcoming draft. They wanted to make sure California finished dead last, so they sent some help to the worst team in the league -- LA.

Ofcourse, LA improved after the trade and California finished dead last.

Who did the Habs draft? Guy Lafleur.

I can't wait until the trade deadline, when the Leafs are way out of it but Burke is too proud to deal his vets because he doesn't want the draft pick being too high.

Toronto lost more games in shootout than any other team in the NHL last season.

Is this Kessel fellow any good in shootouts?
