Another move coming?

I think/hope so. Brass must surely realize we are contenders NOW! They must also realize that our D is a little thin considering HUNWICK has not truly established himself, BOYCHUK is no more then a depth guy and FERENCE can be brittle.

Exactly.

I was just thinking the same. The Bruins need to add some solid depth on the blue line.

I would think Ference would be the one to be traded, if the Bruins were to make a deal for a d-man... Ference+Sobotka for ?

i hope so taz.

what do you see the bruins doing ?

Keeping in mind, they should probably keep their top 6 d right now and add a guy.

It could get interesting.

Depth is definately needed on the blueline, but Ferrence and Hunwick are locks for the top six. In the 2 pre season games Hunwick was playing top 2 minutes and he looked great out there.
Bouillion or something like that.

This is SO true, Last season and during the summer I wanted them to sign Bouwmeester very badly. Now that Toronto has Kessel, Kaberle and a one may have been OK.
Morris signing was OK, But I want a Bigtime guy. I have a feeling we are looking at the trade deadline for solid 3-4 dman. Ballard would be great from Florida.

PC says the Bruins will be going for it this year so...

KOBASEW (2.3) and FERENCE (1.4) for HAMHUIS (2.0) and BELAK (650 k) works for me. HAMHUIS is a UFA after this season so that' s another 2 mil toward re-signing LUCIC, SAVARD and WHEELER. They have BLUM, KLIEN and FRANSON knocking on the door so their D...WEBER, SUTER, SULZER, BLUM, FERENCE, FRANSON and KLIEN is still in good shape.

We pick up a proven top four two-way D-man at a very reasonable cap hit and add something I think we need considering the way teams like TO and Philly have beefed up this off-season in BELAK, who can play D or Wing.

We still look great up front and our D is solid...

STURM-SAVARD-RYDER
LUCIC-KREJCI(HAMILL)-RECCHI
SOBOTKA-BERGERON-WHEELER
THORNTON/BELAK/LOVECCHIO-BEGIN-BITZ

CHARA-MORRIS
WIDEMAN-HAMHUIS
STUART-HUNWICK/BOYCHUK/BELAK

Which is why Blum, Radulov, 1st makes much more sense if it was
indeed on the table. I hope Chia would elaborate on this during the
press conference. Maybe Kessel just don't want to go to Nashville.
I doubt he would get $5.4M going there.

There are two plays 'd like to see the B's pursue...

1. Brandon Dubinsky. The kid only wants half of What Kobasw makes and is a beter player.

2. Cap space. I'd like to see how camp plays out to see what we have in terms of youth. If one of these guys could make a vet expendable, we could create some real cap flexibility at the deadline. Even something as small as Boychuk replacing Ference in the bottom pair would net the B's $900k is savings, which equates to about $4.5M in salaries at the deadline.

what about then flipping a 1st rounder to NY for Dubinsky and he can play LW.

I'd sign him to the second round tender and offer the Rangers Kobasew plus an '11 3rd rounder.

I'd like to get Boullion is as a depth defenseman as well..

Will and should we do a First for him? (ours in 2011) is that realistic?

How about dealing one our firsts, two of our seconds, and Kobasew for Ryan Suter.

Personally I thought Hunwick looked awful in the two preseason games so far. They are just preseason though so I'm not worried about him yet.

Depth would be nice but we have the whole cap situation. Be kind of hard to add another defenseman without subtracting from our forward crop. I like the idea of picking up Dubinsky if we can move Kobe or something along those lines. Either way though we have a good team.

Where did they say that? If that's true, I'd love to see a trade sending Kobasew+pick over and getting Dubinsky back.

I'd love to see Ference+ go somewhere for an upgrade at D though.

Anyone they add is going to have to make less than anyone they trade. If you are talking about trading Ference that means pretty much bringing in a guy making less than 1 million. That's going to be tough to do.

Don't we still have ~$1.3 million in the cap? That does give us around $2.7 million to spend on an upgrade but we won't spend that much to save for a trade deadline deal. But there's no reason they can't take a little more contract back.

If you mean Hunwick was taking chances out there, he was, he is supposed to. He came back hard in all situations and was able to defend well.
If you mean Bozak undressing him, well Wides was just as much to blame, simply put they were on the powerplay and they played it way too soft with Bozak.
All young D-Men will get undressed at one point it is part of the learnning process.

Deadline space may be the biggest thing to come out of this K debacle.

All know we are in need of D for the future and even perhaps now.

I'd look to who's going to be a UFA.
As well as what team is flush with young D but has financial constraints.

At least for starters.

I believe he said he would only speak to the Leafs. By the looks of things I would say PC did not want a salary back.

IMO, our defense isnt that bad.

Hunwick / Ference are pretty good 5th / 6th dmen.

Like Wally said....we need depth for the future at that position though.
