Does anyone know who the defenseman was that he undressed? I'll be even more excited about him if it's a legit NHLer, but I didn't recognize the guy in the clip.

Even if he's a guy here on a try out basis, he's good enough to make it this far. He did beat a Vezina goalie, and stopped time while doing it... his name is Neo! Anyway, does it matter if it was Chara (granted that guy wasn't that big) or some junior/minor leaguer?

It was a wicked move regardless.

I think it was a no name, I remember them saying during the game, but with the other poster I agree, he did beat Timmy and whether he was off his game or not it still was marvelous.

It was Jeff Penner http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/Jeff_Penner

Damn that was a nice move. He has a nice combination of speed and hands.

Great move. I was hoping Grachev would make this team. I like that all Russian line!

Reminds me of Zherdev. But he finishes. And is not lazy.

anisimov is a lot more direct in his approach then zherdev. zherdev could outdangle him and show off better moves but anisimov drives to the net much more and plays stronger on the boards.

thanks. i was thinking the goal was awesome but not to get too excited because he probably only undressed a scrub (although that same move once beat Chris Pronger) but he did beat the Vezina Trophy winning goalie.

Datsyuk has better hands. Actually he probably has the best hands in the league. You could compare them though, they're playing styles are kind of similar... aside from the fact that Anisimov is much bigger.

Grachev doesn't really play like Zetterberg though. I'd say his style is more similar to Eric Staal

Rick Nash is actually the comparison I've been making for a while now.

You know, at first I thought the puck slipped off his stick, and he had the presence of mind to make the recovery and complete the play, which, in itself is still one heckuva a move. But, in looking at it again, he did intend to slide the puck through the defender.

Again, while I did not watch him on a nightly basis in Hartford as squishy and others did, this is why the talk of him being nothing more than a 3rd line center always struck me as unfounded. You don't put up the numbers AA did at Hartford in only your 2nd year in NA at age 21, if you have only 3rd line talent. AA is at least a 2nd line center in the NHL. While the Rangers do not have any one at the elite level talent-wise at the center position in the organization, I feel very good going forward with Dubi and AA here right now, and Stepan on the way.

Datsyuk is VERY good but his fellow russian AK27(Kovalev) has even better hands IMO.

What did you see in the first two games that indicated this? Ooooh the hype and blind love of Ranger prospects.

What hype and blind love? I see a player that has 2nd line ability and skill that I believe will be a potential 60 point player in this league. He's got great reach, good puck-handling skill, with an long stride that gets misinterpreted as being slow. I also saw a player that in his 2nd year in NA as a 21-year-old, put up a point-per-game over a full season. All those factors in my mind make him more than just a 3rd line player.
