1. Chipchura is hurt.
2. Desharnais is not suited to be a 4th line center.
3. My choice is Metropolit.

While he's more of a skill player Desharnais works his *** off every second he's on the ice. I actually think he's like Metropolit in a way. Even smaller but more talented. I don't think he'd be bad as a 4th line center if paired with tough players.

But obviously this year its Metropolit's spot. Things are going to be more interesting next year.

Metropolit is the best option, and you know, he's not chopped liver either. He is a very good player to have as an option for the lowest depth position on the team

Ryan White should be an option.

But Maxwell won't center a 4th line. I think he makes the team next year if/when Plekanec leaves. Otherwise maybe one of our centers get hurt this year, he's called up and he makes his place so we end up with this :

Gomez-Plekanec-Maxwell-Lapierre or Gomez-Plekanec-Maxwell with Lapierre on the wing (or maybe even Plekanec).

I think Desharnais could play on the 4th.. he might not be as hard-nosed as Metro, but he plays a similar game and is much more skilled.

O.K people lets relax a bit. Desharnais played really well, but cmon 4th center? This year?

I think people need to relax a bit. Take a cold shower or something.

Metropolit more than proved his worth last year.
He's by far head and shoulders above the rest.

No arguments here, he's really impressed me during this preseason. I just think he'd be better suited playing a top 6 role. Since I don't think he's quite ready for that. Another year in Hamilton will do him some good.

Metropolit is playing very well out there. There is no question who deserves the spot.

This year I think it's going to be Metro, but next year is going to be interesting to see who is going to step up and fill the role of the fourth line. Chipchura may fill that roll next season if he is still with us. Maxwell should play more of a scoring roll then a defensive roll. Desharnais could be an option but I rather if he gets to an NHL level for him to play on the top three lines.

The spot belongs to Metropolit at this point, and unless he plays himself out of it I can't see anyone taking it from him. I really liked Desharnais tonight but I think he's a better fit for a top 6 role than on a checking line.

Exactly.

If you tell me you'd put Desharnais on the 3rd line and Lapierre on the 4th? Maybe.

So you bring in Desharnais for the season.. That means you believe that Metropolit would be better on the wing and that you think he has enough of a good presence on the ice that his size wont matter has a recruit. You'd have to use him on the power-play, since he's pretty good at that, But then you also take one spot from Webber or Subban.

Desharnais has the potential that's why its so easy to see him there. He has really good skills and he can only progress at them. But his place is in the AHL right now. Im sure he'll be fine.

What's with the Desharnais love fest? Let him rip it up in Hamilton and will call him up when someone's injured or when a fringe guy (Metro, Chipper, Dagger) sucks for 5 games in a row.

I think that Desharnais is best suited to play on a 2nd line in the NHL. Yet in ever pre-season game he plays he is alligned with AHLers. I think to see what he could really do he should be put on a line with NHL calibre players. If that means with Metropolit-Sergei or Plekanec-Gionta, I am all for it.

It is just pre-season after all.

Maxwell is being groomed as the next 2nd line centre, so I don't see him here in a 4th line role. If he makes the team they would want him to play with higher end players on the 2nd line over 4th liners. He has been defensively sound since Junior, he seems to being getting the offensive confidence in the AHL so maybe a promotion on the second line with Gionta and Plekanec maybe a good role for him over Latendresse and Patches?

Fourth line, I would love to see Chip but I think Metro is the man right now and with Chip being there by mid season.

Could this work if Desharnais really continues to impress in pre-season?

Cammalleri-Gomez-A.Kostitsyn
Pacioretty-Plekanec-Gionta
Latendresse-Desharnais-Lapierre
Moen-Metropolit-Stewart/Laraque/S.Kostitsyn

Another poll that's kind of useless. Of course Metropolit is going to be our 4th line center. The only debate we should be having is which of the following players is not making the team out of camp: Dago, S. Kost, Max Pac, or Stewart. Personally i think Stewie is going back to the minors to start the year. Laraque will probably start the year on the IR and the other 3 guys will all get a spot on the team.

I think he'll be given a shot next year to take Plekanec's spot. I doubt he'll be back.

Something like;

Cammalleri - Gomez - Andrei
D'Agostini - Plekanec - Gionta
Latendresse - Desharnais - Sergei
Metropolit - Lapierre - Moen
Stewart, Chipchura

IR: Laraque

I wouldn't mind something like that but Desharnais is 99% likely headed to Hamilton.
