People think the point of hockey is to score more goals than your opponents, when in reality the key to winning is allowing your opponent to score fewer goals than you do.

Take every game to overtime and lose every one in the shootout and you still end up with 82 points. Get lucky and win a few of those and you're easily in the playoffs

If you keep this up, I'm taking away your avatar privileges.

Skraut does have a point...

2008-2009 - 41-31-10 (92 pts)
2009-2010 - 11-0-71 (93 pts)

30 fewer wins/1 more point

That's a silly gamble, though. Better to just go for the win.

Naah, just line the crease with this:

and stand there for 60 minutes and collect your point

Sure it's a silly gamble, but here is the plan, you convert all forwards to defenseman and you don't focus on attacking until it goes to overtime, then it becomes a barrage.

Seriously though, it seems much easier to transform a d-man into a forward than vice versa. If we had to though, I agree Modin would seem like a decent fit, but I don't think he would be able to adequately get back on a rush.

Who is the best candidate for a left shooter to learn to shoot right?

RJ Umberger.

He's already a second-line winger, a goalscorer, a playoff stud, a #1 center, an enforcer, the second coming of Christ, and a Buckeye; becoming a right-handed shot should be easy after all that.

To keep this thread moving in the right direction, which player can best replace Hitch as head coach?

(Okay, I'll stop now. )

Serious answer: I'd be tempted to go with Commie. No particular reason for it other than I figure he'd be able to get people to buy in to whatever he's planning relatively easily.

Following the theme of "right", give it to Boll.

What better way to add grit and toughness to a team than by having a coach who's not afraid to drop the gloves?

Head Coach/Enforcer? That sounds like an awesome situation.

As a Flyer fan I am trying to picture John Stevens jumping the boards to go whoop someone's ass if they get out of line. Victory be damned, that is something I want to see. Besides, how could you not buy in to your coach when he's speaking to you covered in the opposition's blood? It'd be like a cross between Slap Shot, Braveheart and Any Given Sunday. Oh, to be a fly on the wall.
