Kessel ceiling

There's a Bozak ceiling thread and I think it would be appropriate to have a Phil Kessel ceiling thread. What does everybody think he'll be putting up in his prime statistically and who does he compare to in his age group in terms of talent and potential?

Once upon a time, there were those who debated between Crosby and Kessel being the superior prospect. Since then, Crosby has clearly demonstrated his superiority while other prospects from Kessel's draft class and beyond have eclipsed him as franchise players. How will Kessel continue to grow in the next few seasons? Will he emerge as a legitimate franchise player in Toronto?

Probably 40-50 goals if he has a good playmaking centreman and plays 20 minutes a night.

In his prime, he will have a season with 75+ goals, and 55+ assists

Why? You can't hit what you can't catch.

Kovalchuk-Kadri-Kessel line! If we can get Kovy next year...imagine, 120 goals from that one line! (I am so dreaming)

I think Kessel, if he is here long enough will break all our Franchise records in scoring.

I think thats pretty bad when you can bring in a player with the stroke of a pen who is instantly arguably the best player in Franchise history.

I see him being a perenial 40+ goal scorer similiar to Heatley

I was against the price of the trade

I got nothing but great things to say about Kessel, he is a fantastic player and likely will be the best Leaf in Modern memory (post 67)

I don't know if he'll ever be a true franchise player. I don't know if he has the demeanor or all round play to be that.

But his ceiling is an elite scorer who could be perennial candidate for the Richard Trophy.

Because, a franchise as storied as the leafs should have way more players of high caliber then we have had.

In his absolute prime he may flirt with the 50 goal mark, 90+ points ......

Now all Burke needs to do is bring that guy name Toews over to the Leafs side

crosby is 5'11 200... are you worried about him?

kessel is not a question mark. he is a first line sniper, on the best team in the east (last year).

now he'll lead our offense.

with a good power-play, and the assumption that he gets all the ice time he can handle... 45 goals is not out of reach... thats like double our highest form last year.

and we won't let teams run him, thats why guys like orr, primeay, komi, xlby, rosehill***, etc have been brought in...

anyone who thinks the leafs still suck need to re-evaluate the line-up... we are suddenly a competitive squad... this should be a great year !!

I think he will top out at 50 but could get 40 a year or so quite a few times.

I'm excited to see him get proper minutes/game. 16 minutes a night for a 36 goal scorer is criminal.
