All they said is that Torres wasn't back out on the ice and they don't know if it was an injury or if he just wasn't playing in the 3rd.

Michelle just called in and asked about Torres and they said no reason was given during the third period. Just out.

Hope he's doing okay. I bet he's dissapointed if it's anything that'll keep him out of any season games. Heard he had a really good off season and he was playing really well. Did you see his TOI? A goal and an assist in seven minutes. Not bad. Hoping for a speedy return.

I'm a little concerned with Brassard's face off stat as well. But I'm more concerned with the powerplay. Important faceoffs can be taken by Vermette or Pahlsson, and on the powerplay, Brassard is playing the point unless something changed recently.

They just said there was no reason given for his abscence, and said it MAY not be a health issue. Maybe he was taken out for fear of an injury, because of the players which have gone down recently instead of an actual injury.

Edit: Brassard's and Vermette's contract extentions are already looking good. Vermette has scored in multiple games already.

Ouch. That is a concern.

Re: injuries

yeah it sucks. but injuries happen. Let's just be glad it's no one from the top 6 though, because we finally have a decent, even, dare I say, *good* top 6. We should be counting our lucky stars that it is Torres, Modin, and Chimmer and not Brass or Vermette. Modin and Chimera can be replaced. Brass can't be.

After Torres' alleged good offseason and his show tonight, I bet he could put up twenty goals this season if not more, just as he had before. Last year he came back from a long injury and I think that hurt his production.

Chimera I think can put up almost if not 20 goals when healthy. He hasn't done this before, but had he not gotten injuried last year, I think he would have achieved this. He's scored seventeen before, and plays much better. Secondary scoring is the difference between making the playoffs and not. For so many years I heard that the team can't just rely on Nash. Now we have that and we're losing it.

We need Torres' for leadership and his clutch goals.. He had 12 goals in 52 games last season so 20 is not out of the question if stays healthy.

I agree, I'd love to see a healthy Torres all season. Given a chance I could see him bang in around 20 goals.

On the other hand, unless the NHL is switching to soccer nets, Chimera will not sniff anything near 20 goals but he could potential lead the league in both shots more than 10 feet wide of the net and offsides....

Just got back from the game...

What a dominating effort by the Jackets.

The defense was superb. Klesla has kept up his playoff ability. Moore was amazing, IMO. Made a few rookie choices...but hey, he is a rookie.

Voracek looked strong.

Nash made a verrrrry nice move for his unassisted goal.

Brassard made me remember why I bought his jersey.

Picard has energy. But still sucks.

Vermette is so fast...I love his style of play.

Clitsome...love saying his name.

Huselius didn't hit a post. Big plus.

All I really remember...

Got one in the win column. Awesome!

And another broken Jacket? This isn't funny anymore.

Hitch post game: I noted this.

We played with pace tonight, everyone needs to be on same page, we are going be in the offensive zone more-that sets the pace of the game.

Sounds like he has a cold though? I hope it's not mono..

Raffi sat out because of back spasms, according to puck-rakers, and said that with Modin as the exception, none of the injuries are long-term.

Back spasms for Torres. Sure hope those go away quickly.

Overall impressions from tonight:

Brassard is legit.

I love Jake. And his hair.

Russell is going to have a breakout year and is tired of getting pushed around.

Picard will make the team. Blunden very well may be his centerman.

Moore has an 80% chance of sticking around Columbus. (random guess)

Nash can score when he wants to (I mean that as a positive, he is dominating).

Also... Vermette 68% FO, Pahlsson 64%. Manny who?

I agree Raffi is a guy we need (which is why I didn't include him in the 'guys we can replace' part of my post). But come on, Chimera is a guy we've been shopping all off-season. If any two wingers go down, I'm happy that it's him and Modin. My point is that they are replaceable. Sure it's be nice to see Chimmer in the lineup, but if he and Modin are our worst injuries then we are LUCKY.

Nash's goal was a pretty sweet double deke; first by Minnesota's defender and then their goalie. In terms of style, it was reminiscent of the game-winning goal in the last minute against Phoenix in '08. Phenomenal puck control. Now if only he can do it when it counts.

Just the fights in the last 5 mins
The Clitsome/Kalus fight was funny. Not a lot of hitting but Clitsome gets the edge. He took Kalus down to the ice and Kalus threw a punch from his back with the refs in between. The official gets in his face and starts tearing into him. That's where the extra two minutes came from.

I'll have to check the stat sheet but John Scott looked about a foot taller than Boll, but Boll was the clear winner. Scott didn't get more than 1 good shot in.

Picard destroyed Hilbert. This broke out during the Boll fight. He went crazy on him and Hilbert went down. Picard tried to pull him back up by his jersey to keep hitting him.

Russell wanted to get in a fight a couple times but it always got broken up.

I wouldn't really say "whew". Back spasms, especially for hockey players, are a tough thing to get back from. They're a lingering injury if you come back too soon, and they're pretty painful I might add.

Still, it's not the worst that could have happened.

Solid. Methot has a hard shot. Most of the d-mens shots were hitting the net. Klesla was very solid defensively. Both were impressive and I didn't notice any negative about either player.

For all I care, he can go 1 for 20 if he looks as good in the offensive zone every night.
