With the 11th pick in the 2004 Entry Draft

The Los Angeles Kings Select.......... From the University of Michigan Goaltender Alvaro Montoya!!!!!!

People can talk all they want, he is only 19 give him 2 years just like the Islanders gave Dipietro and watch... Dallas also took their time with Turco.... That is my pick this year.... But I will give you a wild Card if he is there select him... and that is Robbie Schremp.... I dont care about his attitude... he can flat out play!!!

If Montoya is there, I would take him. I agree with you wholeheartedly that you let him develop for a few years and then let him go just like they did with Marty Turco, it could turn out to be the exact same situation as Dallas and they love Turco.

If Montoya is gone, then I would look at CAm BArker or Stafford (who played at Shattuck's)

Cam likely won't make it out of the top 5. He is supposed to be the best d-man in the draft. Montoya is my pick too if Cam Barker were to drop though I'd take him though .

DT says is strategy is to take the best player available...I havent seen these guys play, so I can't really decide what I want the KINGS to do. The two goalies sound great, but theres also a lot of talented forwards and a couple stellar D-men. I'm happy with the 11 th pick and I'm sure DT will make the right choice.

I don't think any of them will be around by the 11th pick. I think your best bet would be Montoya, but I see him slipping out of the Top 10. I have my sights on Stafford with the 11th pick (assuming the Kings still have the 11th come draft time).

i don't know about drafting a goalie with #11 - isn't this supposed to be a deep draft for goalies? why not grab the best skater at 11 and then get a goalie with our third rounder?

with a pick as high as 11, we have a shot at getting a very decent prospect, and in a goalie-deep year, maybe we could still get someone decent in the third.

Alternately, why not take a top goalie with the 11th pick instead of settling for what's left in the 3rd (even if what's left is better than in other drafts) and taking a skater 11th in a weak draft for skaters. In other words, if goalie is what you need and goalie is a strength, why devalue your pick (the difference between a goalie at #11 and a goalie in the 3rd round) just to pick up a possibly weak skater. I can see both sides.

if it's a Goalie: Schwarz
if it's a skater: Lauri Tukonen
I would like both. trade away Straka, Carter, Corvo, Belanger, Stumpel, Modry, etc and get those 2.

Malkin's concussions probably won't cause his stock to drop but you never can tell until the draft comes around.

I'd like Schwarz is he's on the board. If not, I could live with Montoya. I also like Schremp is he drops, because he supposedly buddies with Dustin Brown.

Montoya > Schwarz. Schwarz is very similar to Cechmanek and Storr style in the sense that he is a flopper.
