Unofficial NHL 10, NHL 2K10 Thread

Anyone else pick up NHL 10 today? So far I'm liking it a lot. Only took me half an hour to get the lines and roster right. Filatov is the second highest rated forward on the team.

Mine was delivered by Amazon a few hours ago. It is still sitting on my front porch I'm too afraid if I go out there and pick it up I won't get my B.S. paper on the laws of thermodynamics done.

Hope to play it soon if I quit procrastinating on these boards

I jumped right in to Be A Pro. Played the prospect game as a defensive defenseman, had an assist and an empty net goal and was drafted first overall by Vancouver. The Jackets had the #2 pick, I can't help wondering if I would have dropped if I hadn't hit that empty netter...

I always just pick my 'Be A Pro' to start out on Syracuse and then I eventually work my way onto the Jackets before nabbing as much hardware as I can before the end of the season. You would be amazed what a player of Bobby Orr's ability can do to a team like the Blue Jackets.

One of the cooler things I did yesterday was play the 'Battle for the Cup' mode which is basically a mode where you replay last seasons playoffs with this year's roster. Needless to say I took it to the Red Wings and rewrote some history last night. It's a lot of fun.

Still haven't tried online yet but I hope it's better than NHL 09 was. Overall I really like the improvements to the basic physics. The puck bounces a lot more and it gets batted around with gloves and sticks. It feels a lot closer to real hockey than the last one. I love the board play and I love the improved manual line changes.

Highlight of my night: Nikita Filatov on a breakaway and he gets tripped up from behind but slid forward on his knees and I could still dangle the puck and I lifted one high glove side over Osgood. Amazing.

Had some friends try and play it online last night and reported that it was completely unplayable. They took 45 minutes to all get in the same room, then the game crashed 2 minutes into the game.

EA's server's were totally overloaded.

Yeah, my game crashed a few times in BAP mode but I've pretty much come to expect that any new game on Xbox is going to crash when it first comes out. Hopefully they will put out a patch soon that fixes some of the bugs. I usually try to avoid playing new games online for at least a few days after they come out.

As one whose console experience pretty much stopped at the SNES, this just saddens me beyond words. QC was what made consoles worthwhile!

Had my first game crash with a few minutes left in the third. I had 1 goal, 2 assists and +4 as an offensive d-man. I wasn't happy.

yes, the PC version was actually a port of the PS2 version. they never updated it and were still charging full price for it.

It's the same on both platforms, only difference is in the controller, so get it for the system you like the controller better. If you have friends/coworkers that are getting it for a certain system and you want to play them, get it for that. If you want to play NHL10 while your 360 is away for repairs, you can figure out which one to get

Get what your friends have, it's that simple. With the right people multilayer pong is fun.

That said, I think the Xbox live service is better than Sony's online service, yes you have to pay for it, but I think its worth it.

So, what are people's NHL 10 settings?

Tried a 20 minute period Be A Pro Game and there was like 150 combined shots.

odd, my BAP games, our team has always given up 20 or fewer shots. Of course part of that is because I block half of them

Got drafted by the Rangers, so I'll blame it on Zherdev.

Got drafted by Tampa 12th overall as a RW power forward...start on the third line with Halpern and Pahlson. The CPU traded St. Louis and some other people and we got Pahlson, Osgood and Rafalski (I'm guessing Marty went to Detroit). Played three games and I have two goals and one assist, hopefully they bump me up so I can play with some actual skill (Stamkos on line 2, vinny on line 1)

EASHL? anyone interested (ps3)

This is off topic so if this needs to be moved somewhere else, feel free to do that...but I was thinking of making a team for the EASHL in nhl10 for the ps3. If anyone is interested in joining the team let me know and I will make one.

Also, would anyone else be interested in creating a league (not in the EASHL) with the nhl teams and playing with them, again for the ps3?
