Yeah I like Phil, or the guy that plays him...he was great in the Dawn of the Dead remake. He has a good penchant for stone-faced irony it seems.
Wasn't a big fan of the whole "husband trying to connect with his curmudgeonly father-in-law with disastrous results" thing last episode though...that angle is played.
last episode fell a little flat. Loved the Costco scenes though.
Not as funny as the first two episodes, for sure. I did love the scenes between Manny and Julie Bowen's character, though. Hilarious interaction between the half-siblings
Awesome, awesome episode tonight. Between Manny getting drawn on, all of Phil's lines, and the song I was in tears.
Dylan: Were you in a band?
Phil: Coulda been, but I was really focused on my magic.

Eh. I'm finding that the pilot has been the funniest episode so far (although the Costco scene was very funny since it really rings true). I'll give it another couple of episodes and if it doesn't improve, I'm probably out.
This is a very good show. I downloaded and started watching all the episodes tonight and I'm all caught up. Thanks HFboards for hooking me into another show.

I find parts are great, but it really kills the flow when a joke either falls flat or seems forced in as a family values moment.
Mitchell: Why is there chocolate on your face?
Cameron: There was a pie on top of it in the freezer.
Mitchell: So you decided to eat your way to it?
Cameron: It was a judgement call! You weren't there!
Hilarious ep. The ending was especially great, as was the scene in the doctor's office.
