Pretty goog start for 5th round Blackhawks steal Marcus Krüger, played first line in SEL with devils prospect Jacob Josefsson, those 2 were the best players on the ice and Krüger scored 5 points (2g+3a) and a great overall perfomance.
All our Swedish prospects never come over or only come over for a few games. Hjalmarsson was 1st player to actually come over and not suck
Well, a couple of years ago that might have been the case. However, since Sweden's youth-development changed a couple of years ago there's been a massive difference and we're seeing the changes now with the players born 89-90-91-92 etc.
If Krüger keeps this pace up he could be the steal of the draft :|
Wait, a Swedish forward? succeeding in the Hawks system?
To be fair in recent years the Hawks haven't exactly picked a lot of them. Chicago have only picked 3 other Swedish forwards in the last 9 drafts and apart from Nordqvist they've all been picked in the 3rd round or later.
Tuesday, Djurgardens travels north to Skelleftea for game 3 of the season.
Let's just assume for a minute that he is a legitimate prospect at center for line 1 or 2, (let's say a step or two above Froese in his current development) and that he is interested in playing in the NHL for the 'hawks.
He doesn't need to come to Rockford if he's in a good situation in Stockholm. Theoretically, he could continue to develop there until he is ready to make the jump to the big club.
I would love to know (and I don't) whether his spot on the first line is due to some injury, or whether its permanent. He's playing with Josefsson (NJ) and Engqvist (Mtl), who are both highly touted NHL prospects, and they seem to have great chemistry. Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZR5K2MzSp0E
I dont care for Swedes drafted by Blackhawks outside of Hjalmarsson. They alway's fail.
Yes with the Blackhawks it does matter. Foreign prospects fail 99% of the time for Blackhawks
Your "99% fail" claim is hyperbole as there haven't been 100 Swedes drafted by the Hawks (counting Hjalmarsson as the 1% that hasn't failed). But obviously you've been disappointed when high hopes didn't pan out.
Is it just Swedes you're down on? What about Russians? Not a good track record there. How about players from Zimbabwe? (just throwing a little humor in there)
But really - let the rest of earn the right to be as jaded as you are about Swedish draft picks by the Hawks. In the meantime I'll enjoy the glowing reports of a young star in the making and hope to see him wearing the Indian Head in a year or two.
