Just because he was drafted before the Red Wing's turn does not mean he was their target as well. Nick Jensen could have been Detroit's target the whole time for the 5th round. Unless Andersson came out or info was leaked that they wanted Kruger instead of Jensen you can't come to the conclusion that Andersson wanted Kruger.
Been scrolling thru this thread just now.
One bit of circumstantial evidence that supports two points being made here: that he was on the Wings' radar and he has a future in Chicago.
I have it from a very good source he was a personal pick of Scotty Bowman.
Wow. I know people were saying he was a good pick, but this is just a ridiculous start. Might we see him on the Hawks next year? I'd have to hope so if he doesn't fall off completely.
Not next year or anytime soon. He's really small, physically immature. Saw him at PC and the skill in space was really obvious, but he is at least two years away.

While I don't see him over here right away, size don't matter as much as skill. Those same things were said about Kane when he was drafted. Not that Kruger is on Kane's level but skill is what really matters.

This. When will people learn that having good size does not automatically turn someone into a better player or career? I swear most hfboard posters would rather take someone mediocre in skill because of size than someone smaller but really skilled.

btw Kruger had another point today.
How's he looked recently?
I read somewhere that they broke up the Kruger and Josefson line.
After being split up, is he still as noticeable on the ice or being used differently?
Not sure if you have been able to watch any of his games, but if so, it'd be nice to hear how he looks aside from the stat sheet. Thanks!
He doesn't appear to be that small, maybe if he could put on another 10-15 in the summer, he'd be fine. He appears to have cooled off for now but he's still tied for leading in the points category at least.

I think the point is being misunderstood.. Jaeckel isn't saying that he is definitively too small for the NHL, he is saying that he is 19 years old and needs to mature physically. This has nothing to do with any debate about size vs skill - it has to do with development.
With Makarov, the 'Hawks have shown a willingness to let their prospects develop overseas in the right setting. I would guess that we will see the same thing with Kruger because he already has a large role in a top league.
