And all of a sudden all "Gnagare" are hockey experts, again.
Two years ago hockey was the worst sport ever, only for hillbillies and imbreeds. Not any more obviously.

But congrats to AIK!

Really impressive effort although something is definitely wrong with HV.

Anybody have any idea why Larsson got benched the first two games?

Since he was looking out of shape from the last games before the playoffs begun and their 2 keeper did a good job in last game before playoffs started.

Makes sense I guess. Sounds like a dumb move by Larsson to not keep himself in shape.

He usually plays a prominent role on a line with Lindström and Warg, however there were some minor injury concerns for game 4 so he played very few minutes then. I don't know which line he was on/how much he played in game 5.

What once looked like a refreshing push by the Norrland teams (Lule and Schelefte) is now slipping and looking like it's going south in a literal sense.

Am I the only one being shocked by HVs embarassement? Don't know what it is but FBK last year, this year HV looks like theres some championship curse on defending champions.

If DIF can grab the lead tomorrow I think they are destinated for SM guld this year.

Basically everyone in Sweden is rather shocked of the outcome in the HV71-AIK series, including AIK fans. I have rarely seen such a one-sided opinion beforehand on who was likely to win.

Will be very exciting to see if Djurgården and Linköping can overcome the home disadvantage and go on to the semifinals. One can only dream of a final series between Djurgården and AIK.

Might turn in to a nightmare that matchup, with the hooligan-situation.

They're still in the playoffs. Semi-finals against AIK.

Salak in five games:

91,56 SVS%
13 GA

Both Djugarden and Linkoping sent packing today.

.

SAIK 3-2 over Linkoping and Lulea finally got around to knocking off Djugarden (4-3 OT). After being down 3-0, kinda sad to see Djugarden lose Game 7 like that.

Still, I think SAIK will have an easier time with Lulea than Djugarden so, overall, happy with the way things worked out .

Definitely.. Will be very interesting but SAIK will win it. They're just too good to go out against Luleå imo.

Anyway, a great day for Swedish ice hockey; Djurgarden are out of the playoffs!

Aw, to be able to be so sure!
I do agree though that we'll have a better shot at beating Lulea than Djurgarden. Lulea have only won one game in our arena since.. well a very long time. Djurgarden has been our boogey-team; there was a reason we chose Linkoping over them in the quarterfinals.

The whole northern rivalry thing will be pretty great, though the media seems to be a bit misleading (duh). If Skelleftea is out of the playoffs I'm pretty sure most people here will cheer for Lulea in the finals. (I don't know if it's the same in Lulea if we go to the finals, but I suspect as much.) It's not entirely like Djurgarden-AIK, Mora-Leksand or Skelleftea-Bjorkloven.

Great GWG by Oscar Lindberg btw. I'm sure I've said it before but I see big things in that kid. (But hopefully he'll "just" develop to be a firstliner in SEL so we can keep him )

WoW just wow I thought Jonköpings going out like this would have been this years playoff story, but atta boy DIF WTF? Leading 3 nothing in K7 and then finally blow it in OT?

Also heard some people are worried about HVs financial future well I wouldn't be think they are one if not the wealthiest club in the SEL but they'll have lots to do come post season, this team is full of stars but not working as a team it looked.

Yeah I agree, he's got something. From what I've seen of SAIK this season (not that much but still) he looks very good. Class goal today, sublime finish!

I'd say you'd be very lucky to keep him in the future but we'll see. It's going to be very interesting to follow this lad.

Good luck in the semis!

Prediction time part two!

Since I was way off on one of the series (who wasn't!?), missed one series in sudden death overtime that could have gone either way, missed one serie by a game and finally nailed one I plunge into the unknown and predict the semis:

Färjestad - AIK 4-1
SAIK - Luleå 4-2

Did Larsson get injured in the game? Only 13:32 TOI in an OT game, while Erixon had 33:53 & Rundblad 28:28.

Sometimes luck is just ridiculous but I'm sure Skellefteå will bounce back today.
