Devils sign Andrew Peters to two-year contract

Quote:
Trying to keep pace with a trend in the Atlantic Division, the Devils have signed enforcer Andrew Peters to a two-year contract, The Post has learned.

The former Sabre was invited to Devils camp as an unrestricted free agent on a tryout basis and earned a contract with his performance in training camp.

actually if you watched him vs the isles he can skate. When he isn't going through his simulated roid rage.

Enforcer making peanuts on a 2 yr deal. He'll play about 40 games and now we have a legit heavyweight. cant complain.

The guy is huge and he can fight. He's an enforcer. He'll make the league minimum too I'm pretty sure, so it's a good signing. You need guys like him. He's also a great guy to have in the lockerroom...

He sucks at fighting these days. Many suspect after he stopped taking steroids.

I think Peters is just trying to get closer to Emery.

Really?

He sucks at fighting, the only thing he's really good at these days, is being on the receiving end of a huge check.

Do you think he actually gets new gloves from the Devils? Or does the equipment guy just dig out an old pair of Scott Stevens mitts just so Peters has something to keep his hands warm on the bench.

Colton Orr can barely skate. Thats pretty funny being he was on of the best skaters on the Rangers last season. He may lack hockey skills but Orr's skating ability is hardly a issue.
Peters lumbers or should I say cuts divits when he skates but the Devils needed some toughness and he was really all that was left

Clearly you haven't watched him much during his tenure with the Sabres.

Nobody fears Andrew Peters.

Good for Andro. He's a good guy and the team will like him in the room. Beyond that, he has little value. He's no deterrent because, frankly, he's never on the ice when anything happens as he cannot take even a regular 4th line shift. But he can hold his own in the rehearsed heavyweight battles. He may get more chances being in the Atlantic this year.

I'd rather just ice 17 skaters.

That's why you can count the number of returning rangers skaters with two hands. Torts felt Orr couldn't play in his system due to his skating.

Hopefully he's also not getting paid for his fighting abilities.

Get ready to watch Peters grab his opponents sweater and occasionally jab at the opponent's face with the hand grabbing said sweater for roughly 20 seconds.

Peters is a lousy fighter (him being lousy at hockey is a given)...but in the Atlantic you have to at least try to ice an enforcer and he is an improvement on what the Devils had. I'm just shocked he got a multi-year deal.

Wouldn't be surprised if Lemaire asked for an enforcer. He seems to like them.
