Well, it's much easier to be consistent when your role is relatively small. I guess in that way it's also very subjective

There are what, 3 players who actually would qualify for such a title? Rozy and Henrik?

It's not much of a praise to be consistently average.

Reading this thread I am reminded that you are never as good as the things people say about you, and you are never as bad as the things people say about you.

Betts is what he is. If the Flyers just got a guy to eat minutes on the fourth line, and allow them to play Carter and Richards less on the PK with out a huge drop off in the PK performance, then I am happy he is on the team.

remember that one shorty the flyers let in against the rangers in game 82? If i had to pick one guy to be on that PK to save the goal it would be blair betts.

Betts was a great Ranger. PK SPECIALIST. Will block a shot with his face if he has to for his team. Very good on faceoffs, all around solid defensive minded 4th line center.. Hated to see him go.

Just didn't need him anymore and have young guys who can fill the spot that we want to continue to develop.

That was our powerplay. I think it was Betts that scored that goal.

I wish Betsy all the luck (except against us)

Watch him go out and score 10-15 goals on this team.

I freaking go *******.

Still... a change needed to be made. As much as I loved what Betts brought to the team and his work ethic - he was a product of the Renney system and that needed to be flushed out of here. They needed to turn over the personality of this team and he was probably the poster boy for the Renney era in that category.

Way to kind of ignore my point. Like I said, the number is not the point, because you really can't measure it. That's why they call the kinds of things Betts does "intangibles" You can't definitively say one way or another if the play the guy made prevented a goal or not. So I'll rephrase my whole point. I think he's a very underrated defensive forward. I appreciated his consistant effort that he gave us everytime he put on the sweater. I don't think it's unreasonable to say that once every three games or so, he made a great defensive play be it a block, a big faceoff win, or a clear on the PP that potentially saved us a goal against. He does all the little things that if not done, add up to goals against. Is that less absurd?

Betts was a good Ranger and I wish him the best. He's easily one of the best PK guys I've ever seen. Amazing how good he is at blocking shots. But yeah, he isn't going to add a drop of offense. Then again, who knows what'll happen in Philly. Fans will definitely appreciate his play though.
