Kotalik did not look good today. I don't know why we need him at 3 milion to play the third line. Some of those goals Capitals goals where against strange lines. Mostly the fourth centered by Boyle with Voros, Kotalik and Lisin on them. In the third period it was Boyle's line who got the last two goals scored by Grachev and Brashear.

Lisin and Boyle were the only players in the lineup with a plus rating for the Rangers today.

Lisin was on the ice for ONE goal against.

Scary thought of the day: The 3 goals scored today were by Brashear (5 minutes a game), Grachev (hartford bound) and Anisimov (4th line or minors - but hopefully 3rd Line).

The positive is that all 3 goals were skill goals. Two one timers and a 2 and 1 shot by Grachev. We just have to pray that guys like callahan, dubinsky, higgins, kotalik can also score those type of skill goals. Otherwise we won't necessarily do too well against contenders.

That'd probably be more scary if it wasn't still preseason.

Yeah, I know, "oh shut about 'it's just preseason'", but it's true.

I also expect this team to struggle a bit to start the season as they work things out. What I hope out of them is that they get better as the year goes along instead of worse like they did last year

Just watched most of the game. Wow, Rozsival is terrible. He literally hurts the team when he plays.

At this point, there's no way he's tradeable. His value is not only zero, it's negative because he'll help the other team score goals!

He's horrible.

I want Sanguinetti in his spot.

Come on it's preseason, they (rozi and a few others) arent fighting for a spot and theyre not getting paid. Im sure they dont give a ****.

Even if it is pre-season, most of the players needed a coach to motivate them to play. It took until the 3rd period to finally see some life. Can't wait 'till Friday

That's exactly the problem with R+R. We've seen them play brilliantly, but they just "don't give a ****" 90% of the time. You really don't care that they are not trying, even if it is preseason?

Rozy is done, send him to Hartford, he wont go, he will go to Russia or Czech republic to play, then you dont even have to pay him.

If I knew I was in shape I sure as hell wouldn't be putting out anything close to my all during preseason. God forbid someone tried to make the extra hit or shot block or reach during preseason and was out for even 1 game of the regular season because of it.

Oh come on. A couple of seasons ago Lundqvist looked horrible in pre-season, and afterwards he maybe had the best two month of his career thus far.
I don't give much about vets looking bad in pre-season. With that said, I doubt either of Redden and Rozsival will play up to their contract. But I think both will be solid.

Looked like Gaborik skated a little slow to the bench after tangling up with Ovechkin and was walking even slower to the dressing room.

Was Grachev's goal high glove?

You can't even see the puck on TSN's small highlight video.

Yeah, I was being sarcastic. No need to be obnoxious with the "I'm going to pretend like I didn't see this." There's lots of stuff on these boards that I'd like to pretend I didn't see.

My point is there is more to hockey than just scoring goals, especially for a 4th line center. In all likelihood, Boyle will be our 4th line center if Anisimov moves up to 3rd line C.

No it was low (about 10 inches off the ice) off the far post and in.

Thanks, that's what I thought.

I saw someone else wrote it was like Fedorov's goal, and someone else said "top snip" - I thought it looked low far side.

Shot block? Extra hits? LOL, I'd jump for joy if Rozsival EVER did that. At this point, he's not even doing the basics!!

It was a dumb thing to say, sarcastic or not. The guy's point is valid. If it wasn't, then Blair Betts would still be here. Goal scoring from the fourth line does matter.

If Boyle sucks like he has, he will most certainly deserve his ticket to HFD. I don't see what the problem is. It's not like Boyle has established himself at this level.

Staal looks differently physically. I can't put my finger on it. Not sure in a good way, either. Maybe weaker?

Staal looks fine; I think aprt of this is shiny new toy syndrome. Gilroy and Del Zotto are overshadowing Staal.
