1.8M to play 10 games as a backup

OR

1.2M to play at least 40 games as the starter

If I were Conklin I'd take the latter 9/10 times

Conklin could get the number 1 gig from Huet. It all depend on Huet.

Hey fedro, the part that says it's an offer sheet is kinda important...

Well, if we go for both goalies counting for points and Niemi steals the starting job from Huet, he makes a lot of points (depending on who is other goalie is). If he has a lot of cap space, might be worth more than most UFAs available right now.

I think Niemi would be a smart player to go after just for that reason, but still 3.2 is extreme overpayment, IMO.

Well, we'll see if it was an overpayment for Niemi by the end of the year.

Three reasons for the overpayment:
1) Goalies are always worth more in fantasy leagues. They win drafts. I learned that the hard way.

2) RFAs are almost by definition, going to be overpaid. There is no point in making an RFA offer if it's an easy decision for his team to match.

3) Honestly, I thought enough of you knew about Niemi that there would be a lot of competition. If you are going to target a young G poised to take over a starting position, who is a better candidate than Niemi? Pavalec I guess, but he's not an RFA. This sure makes more sense to me than 4m for Tkachuk, I can tell ya.

Valid points.

Colorado just sign the RFA David Moss.

So they sign him to a 3 year contract worth 6 750 000 with a Cap hit of 2 250 000 per year with a NTC will only activate after July 1st 2010.

Moss is excited to be with the Avalanche.

Proud to welcome Laperriere to the club. He's a top enforcer and can put up over 20 points a season easy. He'll replace Ruslan Fedotenko on our 3rd line and immediatly name him our enforcer for the 2009/10 season
