2009-2010 Team points prediction

How many points do you think the Coyotes will end up with? The Coyotes finished the 08-09 season with 79 points, it took 91 to make the playoffs. They were 26th in the league in goals for with 205 and 24th in the league in goals against with 251.

I'll go with 85. 12th in the West and a 8th overall pick next year.

I hope to be wrong.

93 points, they'll make the playoffs, stay in Glendale, and break even financially next season.

I've got to believe in something right?

I'll go with 92 and a playoff spot at #8, qualified only by us staying relatively healthy to achieve that number.

What a lot of people dont realize is if we didnt have that 16 game stinchfest after the all-star break, we would have atleast made the playoffs. We were 5th for half the season and after the 16 or so game stankystreak we played phenomenal down to the end.

With the new coaching staff and maybe 1 more solid player, I think we can easily make the playoffs. I'm horrible with points but id say anywhere from 6th to 10th.

we did win a few games that we probably didn't deserve to as well. I think we will definitely be better than predicted (and I expect an apology from every major publication for predicting a dead last finish) but don't expect a Top 5 finish just yet. Everything hinges on our scorers scoring (a return of Mueller's finishing touch, development of Hanzel, Vrbata potting 20+, Doan and Jovo not getting off to slow starts, etc.) and Bryzgalov establishing himself as a Top 10 goalie in this league. Cross your fingers and toes that we don't run into any major injuries to key personnel (see Bryzgalov) and hope that Tippett gets the best out of everyone. I like the optimism though...

That's about where I come down. If they have a perfect injury free season in which every player plays to his ability I could see 9th place or so. But that's unbelievably unlikely. Someones gonna get hurt, someone is gonna have a down year.

I say 92 and 7th or 8th place. I think Tippet makes a huge difference. Hanzel looks very good. When things get tough like last year, he wont let them fold up.

We also lost quite a few games that we shouldn't have... With the new coaches, hopefully we will be disciplined enough not to give up so many goals within 30 seconds of the game ending...

I don't know who provides their content, but NBC sports is predicting we will be the 'embarassment of the league' and finish with 77 points.

I'm thinking we'll end up with the eleventh to thirteenth overall pick.

Ok...Mr Optimistic

1) Sharks
2) Black Hawks
3) Canucks
4) Red Wings
5) COYOTES
6) Ducks
7) Blues
8) Blue Jackets
9) Flames
10) Kings
11) Wild
12) Stars
13) Predators
14) Oilers
15) Avalanche

While we're being "optimisitc" we should hope & pray that the Flames finish out of the playoffs. Ollie implodes locker room

How can the Blackhawks and Red Wings finish 2-3?

...which is about as probable as making the playoffs.

Good goaltending and a solid defense can take us a long way.

No goals, shaky goaltending, and a young, unpredictable roster can sink us to new depths.

rt's prediction is probably the safest - not good, not horrible, just yet another meaningless mediocre season.

I'm a bit more optimistic for a couple reasons:

- On paper, we have a better coaching team at all levels.
- We've got hard-working roster full of hungry, motivated kids.
- These kids are now 1 year older.

...and who knows? Maybe Maloney will do another trade before the deadline for a proven scorer.

I just can't start the season thinking it's going to be another debacle.

LoL. while I suppose anything is possible the Yotes certainly did not get worse than last year. At minimum they stay about the same. Unless you think this ownership situation is going to massively distract the players (which it might have under Gretzky) there is no logical reason for such predictions.

This being my first season as a season ticket holder I'm gonna say 91-94pts and anywhere from 8 - 6 seed.

Going with the power of positive thinking.

Yotes put their winning road record from '07-08 with their winning home record from '08-09, do a better job of picking up OT loss/SO loss pts instead of outright losses. Their longest pointless streak the whole season is 4 games.

Bryz finishes in top 5 of Save % or GAA. Doan breaks his career high in goals & points. Upshall shows Maloney he is a 30 goal scorer, thanks to 40+ assists from Lombardi. Vrbata nets 27 again. Hanzal & Mueller each reach the 20 goal plateau. Boedker and Porter each get 15g/15a. Winnik, Korpedo, Pyatt, and Prucha combine for 30g/30a. Yandle gets 15g/35a. Michalek gets to the 35 pt mark and leads the league in blocked shots. Sauer has 5 pts to go with the best defensive play in the league per dollar spent. Jovo reaches 40pts. Aucoin, Vandermeer, & Lepisto combine for 15g/25a. Hollweg plays 1 game, has 39 minutes of penalties. Fiddler has 11 goals.

Coyotes finish 42-30-10.

In less than 20 games it will become obvious that TGO was holding this teams development up.. Home ice for the first round will be an attainable goal..

You do realize that there is a portion of the media that will tie whatever positives fall this organizations way to Gretzky. It will happen. Expect it.
