It sounded like our defense and PK really sucked tonight but it's good to hear the first line dominating the scoreboard again.

If we could only do something about penalties we'd be in excellent shape to compete for the division. I wonder what's up with Artyukhin, is Carlyle trying to make him into a defensive forward? No hitting and a lot of obstruction penalties.

I think his rep may be affecting (effecting?) his physicality, only now he's taking stick penalties instead. If he's going to the box he might as well hurt someone while he's at it. Fridge was great at that.

just got back.

Mikk looked good, he broke up alot of rushes, i can easily see why he is still here. he got throttled in the corner by ivanans but he got called for it. the rpg line was the best of course. bobby and getzy have great chemistry maybe even more than perry and getz now. perry was his usual dicky self (not that i mind) and got us a goal by laying on ersberg.

sbisa laid some good hits. brown was easily the fastest duck out there. scotty hit someone hard in the corner that dislodged the glass but they didnt catch it for about 2 shifts. Jiggy looked decent. i think smyth is going to be a huge pain in the ass this year.

i kinda feel ripped off, preseason games are supposed to be all about the rookies and fighting, and the game didnt have either one. artykin is absolutely a penalty magnet. he usually ends up going nowhere (ie around the boards and gets it knocked off his stick). he is fast though. he had words with ivanans but that was about it.

You have to go to a game earlier in the pre-season for that. This was the last game of the pre-season so the Ducks lineup was basically what it will be for opening night.

yeah but youd think a rival game with artyukin, parros, ivanans, and chippy guys like simmonds, d.brown, and m.brown would be alot more physical than that.

christensen did not look hindered out there in limited ice time. his strides were fluid and had his head on a swivel. he played well. hes bigger and plays with more presence, IMHO Ebbett will be the Carter of this season, or at least they will split time, cause EC is better than both.

Christensen looked pretty good tonight. He worked the cycle a hell of lot better than Ebbett but that line couldn't really create any offense because Artyukhin kept taking stupid penalties. But he looked better than Ebbett has so far. I liked Nokelainen on that line better though so Christenen and Ebbett are going to have to dislodge Carter from the fourth line. It should be interesting.

Defense looked pretty passive tonight, but I chalk that up to it being a preseason game. If they play like this come Oct 1st, I'll be pissed. Ryan-Perry-Getz were just plain dominant out there. They looked as if they were toying with the Kings; it's amazing to see just how far those three have progressed (especially Ryan) at the NHL-level. Koivu also stood out as being great, even in the Ducks' own zone. It's going to be a fun year with two legit scoring lines, because you can already sense some chemistry with the Selanne-Koivu-Lupul pairing.

Thoughts from the game

-R2 is our new Pronger. Refs see guys bouncing off a big guy and falling to the ice so it must be a penalty. Seriously most of his penalties tonight were dives on behalf of the Queens.

-Jiggy looks more soild like the Jiggy of old than the Jiggy of last year.

- Bobby=awesome King killer as usually.

-Lupes..still needs help to find the net though his goal from Koivu and Teemu was awesome

-Teemu keeps coughing up the puck, can't seem to keep it on his stick

-Getzlaf is feeling just fine..still a beast and ready to beat Brown down but the ref stepped in.

-Christensen looked really good, seems to be back in full form

-Scotty still off his game a bit and giving the puck away more than I have ever seen him do.

-Power play still sucks

All in all nice to beat the Queens, but our special teams REALLY needs work.

Sbisa needs to bulk up big time. I'm not sure how much ice time Scotty got but he seemed pretty non-existent. Hopefully the defense can be established as something not to **** with, again.

why does the power play suck if we have perry, getzlaf and ryan, three of the best players in the entire league at working the cycle? throw in selanne, whitney and niedermayer to boot.

just stupid plays trying to gain the zone? or just not enough time to get into some sort of groove yet?

We should move Ryan to the third line.

- Ryan played great! The RPG line will dominate all year.

- R2 needs to stop taking penalties.

- Lupul should not be on the PK. (And I doubt he will be come regular season). He looks out of shape.

- Wiz played good.

- Mikkelson played good... again.

- Eminger looks like he is a forward.

- Koivu played good.

- Christensen looks decent. I don't see him playing ahead of Ebbett.

- Brown played good.

Kinda hard to like R2 when he takes this many minor penalties. If he can't get a better hold on himself, I don't want him on this team anymore.

Besides these three and Koivu is there anyone who would likely be a captain. Giguere?
