Anton Stralman to Columbus for a 3rd Round Pick

Jackets trade 3rd rd pck to Calgary for Anton Stralman. RH shot Dman who played for Toronto last 2 years.

Edit: done according to AP's Twitter.

Is this confirmed?? If so, I really like this deal, Stralman is a solid dman who can help us right away.

wait...what?

That would be awesome.

EDIT- from puckrakers:

Quote:
By sending Clitsome to the minors, the Blue Jackets have two options for a No. 7 defenseman -- sign Martin Skoula to a contract, or swing a trade. The former seems more likely than the latter, although the Blue Jackets have made a trade offer, and they're waiting to hear back from the other club.
maybe?

I really like this move if its true. There was a blurb on the puckrakers blog earlier that said Howson had a trade offer out for a 7th dman, so this could possibly be it. And if so, goodbye Martin Skoula!

Agreed, young but has some experience... he can play the point also. I'd say he was obtained for the 7th spot.

Source?

I'd be down for this. Stralman is a pretty good skater and isn't a wussy like Skoula. His price tag is cheap and he's a RFA at the end of the year.

Holy crap....if true I am completely stoked. I was disappointed when Stralman went to Calgary from Toronto and was pushing his name as a target. This would be a good trade for us I think. That means Methot just became #7 and that's a solid top 7.

Oh please be true....

This'd be nice. I'm not sold on Skoula, and the youth just means we can get him for a longer term if he works out for us.

Young, right-handed shot with some potential offensive upside. I'd be in favor of this over Skoula.

This guy is not unlike Russell in that there were high hopes for him that he's yet to fulfill. Perhaps Columbus is where he finally takes the next big step forward.

No rumblings from the Calgary side, and we've sent down Kronwall.

That leaves us with:

Regehr
Bouwmeester
Phaneuf
Sarich
Giordano
Pardy
Stralman

7 defensemen. I believe you may be out of luck.

I will profess ignorance on this player's ability to help our team. However, Howson's track record has been pretty good so far, so I'll say it's a good deal until proven otherwise.

Somewhere Marc Methot just groaned.

I like Methot alot, but I can guess that he is probably less than pleased with this development. It's a direct contestant to his spot on this team.
