Well here's the offensive defenceman Columbus was looking for. You guys just got a guy who will be your #1 on the pp for years to come. He's a great skater with good offensive abilities. Good job Columbus!

Send a message via AIM to Viqsi
http://forecaster.thehockeynews.com/...layer.cgi?4966 - quick and dirty info on the guy.

I think this makes me happy. *nod*

Whooooooooooooooo! And at the best price tag: cheap.

THN:
Quote:
ASSETS: Has plenty of puck poise and on-ice maturity. Owns a projectable frame and offensive upside. Is good on the power play point due to a hard shot.
FLAWS: Needs to add more bulk in order to better defend against big forwards in North America. Must adjust quickly to the faster pace of the NHL, and avoid big hits.
CAREER POTENTIAL: Top four defenseman.

ok why is everyone excited about this guy? He was a 7th rd pick in 05 and in 88 NHL games he is a -12 with 4 goals and 18 assists. Not exactly jump off the page stats! Is he another 'loaded with potential' prospect?

It's all for depth. I like this move a lot. Methot might be groaning, but from what I saw from him he played a really, really nasty game the other night. There is definitely a place for him, especially if there is an injury.

Great, great move.

I couldn't help but notice this quote--

Does this mean he has more puck poise than Marty Skoula?

Don't worry. If worse comes to worse, he'll get "waived and claimed by a team who can use him".

(Wasn't that his line this time last year?)

For me, I like the trade for the price: a 3rd rounder for a right handed NHL defenseman that does well on the power play, is young and has potential. He was behind a loaded Calgary defense in the depth chart and can have a real oppurtunity here.

Well this board spent the summer saying Howson needed to go out and grab that Right Handed offensive Defenseman Anton Babchuk Stralman, and Howson listened to us

Methot won't be going anywhere, he is a good option for the third pair. Good depth.

This puts Roy/Clitsome/Sigalet 8, 9, 10...which, imo, is about right where it should be.

Pretty much this.

He fits in with the direction of our team. Apparently he has a boomer from the point. We gave up very little for a player with all of the potential qualities that we need. I like it.

I haven't seen Strålman play much, but he sounds like a solid pickup.

And again, what you mentioned is also huge: Our depth chart is stacked stronger and with the right personnel in more or less the right spots.
