How long have you been a Flyers fan?

The year was 1970. I was 9 years old and in the 4th grade in Lumberton, NJ. I remember Bobby Clarke starting to make a name for himself and like every sports minded kid in South Jersey, I found myself playing street hockey behind the Lumberton Fire House. Our team was called, what else, the Firehouse Flyers!

Almost 40 years later, I now live near Seattle and still love the Flyers. I take roadtrips every year to see the Flyers in action. This year, THE WINTER CLASSIC!

How long have you been a Flyers fan?

I've been a fan of the Flyers since 1978. I was too young to remember the Stanley Cup victories, but I am old enough to remember just how good of a player Bobby Clarke was and how at one time, he was the face of the NHL.

I'd say I first became interested in the Flyers around 4-5years old when Hextall became the first Goalie to score in the playoffs. I wouldn't have called myself a fan because I had gone to so many Montreal hockey games it would have been blasphemy.

I think the real turning point for me was when the Flyers "took" Leclair, Recchi and Desjardins from Montreal. That was about that same time they had the "Legion of Doom" line.

So 10-19 years

Since 1990ish, so 19 years or so.
I didn't really follow the NHL back then when I was 6 years old though, but I had a jersey and a few years later I sent mails to Tommy Söderström and the other Swedes who played for the Flyers. Got autographed cards and short letters in return, was awesome.
I've been a "real fan" the last ten years or so.

In my ripe young age of 6 I acquired the new gaming experience NHL 95 for my SNES and my first Flyers jersey (Lindros of course). I still remember the glory days of the Legion of Doom from when I was younger and long for a player like John LeClair again. Man, those teams were so fun to watch.

1974. I was 8 years old
It all started for me as wanting to root for someone other then the Bruins. So when the playoffs rolled around it came down to Boston and Philly and me being the rebel(lol) chose the Flyers. The rest is history.
I was in the definite minority up here for sure. Didint know to many kids that like the Flyers up here in New Hampshire.

I was 5 when the Flyers won the 1st cup, just getting into sports and I remember watching the games and all of the excitement at the time. Been my favorite sport/team ever since. Grew up with Bobby Clarke, Mike Schmidt and Bill Bergey, in that order, as my idols. Watched football all Sunday with my father 'cause that was what he was into. Watched evey Flyers game I could on the 13" black and white tv in my bedroom from that time on.

Born in 1974 in the home of Bobby Clarke, not hard to guess why 80% of Flin Flon are Flyer fans. Only been a FLyer fan !

~1995? After learning my way around the teams of the NHL, the Flyers were just such an obvious choice to me. True love at first sight, even though I'm a West Coaster.

I have always been a Flyers fan, but my fandom has been a bit off and on honestly. When I was little, I'd watch them when my dad turned them on. I was actually upset when Brind'Amour was traded, and didn't seek out the games, just watched them when I found them channel surfing.

When I went to college (when the lockout ended), I got back into hockey and have been hardcore into it since then. First playoff game was this past April. I had only been to Phillies and Eagles games until that point.

22 now and I love Hockey. I just have to learn how to skate. Eventually, haha.

Before I was born

I was about a month from being born when the Flyers were in the 87 finals. My mom went to all the games, so that is pretty much when I became a fan.

Even when I was 2 I would sit in front of the TV watching the Flyers. Started playing hockey when I was 4.

I'll guess that it was after seeing Dave Schultz and Terry O'Reilly engage in a nice punch-up at Boston Garden circa 1971.

This might be it:

But there certainly is no shortage of candidates:

Yep. The day the trade became official (after the whole 'is it the Rangers or is is the Flyers?' nonsense), which was just over 17 years ago.
