Just listened to the Lang podcast on the team site. Interesting that not only was Lang a Phoenix Roadrunner, but that he actually played for Tippett's IHL Houston Aeros, all those years back.

No, which is frustrating because they've got guys like Afinogenov, Skoula, Ward, and Semenov up already. Why not Lang?

Guessing delayed filing of the contract for the physical. Hopefully see it within the next 24 hours.

That might be. There must be something up. The NHLPA site still says he is unsigned. nhlnumbers says 0. I don't see any mention of him at all on capgeek or nhlscap.

The team did issue a press release saying they signed him. Doubt that would have happened if they weren't sure.

Whether it's because the Coyotes organization is good at keeping a lid on things or because there's not much of a media presence to dig it out, Coyotes' numbers always take longer than usual to leak out.

capgeek.com clearly has a pipeline from an official source that they can get the AHL salaries for 2-way deals also. Even the team leaks don't usually include that detail of info.

IB was able to get the AHL info from an official NHL source somehow. Appears capgeek has the same or similar access.

Is Lang's physical today? What price range do you expect on this deal? 1 year for 1.5 million?

There is just no way he hasn't passed his physical, already. The team wouldn't have announced him as signed if he hadn't. He's signed. There was never any mention of a physical from the team, just the media. The media that announced it as pending a physical before the team announced it as a signing. Maloney talked about him being signed on nhlLive. Tippett has talked about him being signed. They wouldn't be doing this if it was still pending anything. The dollar amount just hasn't come out yet. That's all.

I guess he really enjoyed Phoenix back in his Roadrunner days.

It is totally impossible for him to be the Nedved, Ricci, Amonte, Hull, ect. type of signing a few people were mentioning earlier. If he absolutely sucks, he'll be making just a couple of hundred kay more than we're paying Joel Perrault on his one-way deal down in San Antonio. He's making less than Vern Fiddler. Less than the back up goalie. Less that TODD EFFING FEDORUK!!!

This is no lose. This is No risk/high reward.

Wonder if there might be some potential bonus $'s that haven't been reported yet, but $1m sounds great.

Will this quiet those, including John Garrett from Sportsnet last night, that keep saying the Lang signing was because the team needed to get to the cap floor?

There are, but capgeek doesn't have it yet:

I bet it's one million in bonuses. I'd actually be willing to bet.

Either way, the guy is signed. It's not pending a physical. It's done.

He looked kind of slow, old, smart, and skilled. Exactly what I was expecting. He could stop, start, and cut just fine, so the injury looks okay, so far. Good positional play and hockey sense seemed to make up a great deal for slowness of foot. He converted a turn over into a goal instantly, at one point in the game. He was where he needed to be to pick it off, and where he needed to be to put it in the back of the net. He looks about as advertised, so far. I was pleased with the performance, and if he remains healthy, I expect he'll continue to improve(he did miss almost the entire camp).

Sounds like he healed up just fine then .

he looked slow last year too before the injury, but he was so darn effective in being in the right position most of the time , which made up for any lack of speed. Smart positional hockey player..

Robert will become a fan favorite this year,i do believe ..

great pick up
