So 3 points in 4 games and Quinn is throwing little Sammy under a bus. I was actually going to start a thread after the Tampa game to talk about him. I was thinking that this is Sam Gagner's breakout year. He looks to me like the player he was for the 2nd half of his first 2 seasons. I'm gonna be pissed if he starts getting soft minutes....very pissed.
EDIT... Maybe he'll get Hemsky spot on the fist line now that Hemmer is injured.
under the bus if u think Stone and Jacques are better then Stortini... I think Gagner will be happy as long as that line gets 10+ mins and he gets some PP time
While I don't like Gagner on the fourth - he hasn't the game for it, I do like seeing the organization's (and a lot of fan's) little darling given a dose of reality. Honestly, I would be fine with seeing Gagner traded if it meant a quality (and young'ish) player coming back. Gagner for Horton... Gagner and a bit for Staal... you get my point.
I just don't see Gagner having the ceiling that many want to attribute to him. Nor the ceiling of the players I mentioned above.
A second line of O'Sullivan Comrie Horton and a fourth line of Moreau Stone Stortini looks much better than what we currently have.

You seriously think Gagner will get 10+ minutes on that line. Very doubtful if he'll even get more than 5 minutes. I'd say that line gets less than 5 minutes.

5 mins, thats laughable, stortini deserves more than that. 11-12 mins for that line.

Doubt it. Since when is Brule better than Gagner. Brule is on the third line because he played for the Giants and Quinn is part owner of the Giants. He had lunch with Brule as well. Put the two together and I see some bias.
A competitive 4th line normally gets 6-10 minutes.
A not so competitive one gets 2-6...
I'm guessing the former, but don't expect over 10 for the 4th.
Agreed on that. I doubt the fourth line will get more than 6 minutes. I'd say Gags will be lucky if he gets more than 5 or 6 minutes. I doubt Gagner will get any points playing with those two players either.

Ohh, it's a conspiracy. Everyone get your tinfoil hats.

I thought you like Brule? He played his butt off and earned that spot. Make up your mind.

You mean Jordan Staal, the center who just hit a career high 49 points at the age of 20? Yeah he's way better than Gagner will ever be. Or Horton who is 4 years older than Gagner and whose career high in points is a whopping 2 points more than Comries?
Yeah Gagner's had a bad pre-season. Bust. Trade him while he's still got value.
Gagner looked like garbage in the preseason, he was the 4th or 5th best centre, so he'll start on the 4th line. If he proves with his play he should be on a better line and that he deserves more playing time, Quinn will make the change. Gagner coasted through camp, and this is the price he'll have to play. I like that Quinn looks like he is going to hold players accountable for their play.

If Brule and Gagner changed lines, the 4th line would be a complete liability. Atleast with Gagner there, we can scare the other team by wiffing on some open net passes.

Brule skated hard and hit people and fought for his job through out preseason. Gagner didn't even look interested, he just turned the puck over time after time. Brule may not be the answer, but Gagner has not looked good through preseason, I hope he wakes up real soon, because this team needs him to take a step forward from last season, and so far, that doesn't look like it has happened.

from what i've seen gagner is lucky he's on the 4th line. brule earned his spot.
Is Ryan Stone centering the O'Sullivan-Comrie unit, or is Comrie back playing center with you guys? I thought it was Stone that was centering the line when I watched a couple of the pre-season games via oilers.com.

i don't see this as a typical 4th line, i like this line, and it could be affective, and they will see good ice time imo. but thats my opinion, i also think dustin penner will pot 32 this year.
